Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

True. i2r losses increase dramatically with current. But they are probably much less than the few hundred watts of idle current required during charging, regardless of charging rate. Someone tested this on the older chargers and TLDR, highest efficiency was largest current and even numbers. (32...

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

I imagine if it was the 3/Y they'd fix it. But, since it's the S/X, they don't care at all.

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

It's annoying. Exactly. The 3 and Y don't do this. No other cars do it. No reason for it other than bad engineering. I'm wondering if the fix in 2023.44 didn't make it into the FSD branch, because I am really sure I don't have it. Either that, or my car has much worse vibration. Mine is just...

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

1020 HP. 😅 So far I don't have that vibration, but I do have the 40-50 mph vibration under light acceleration. Hooray.

Updated "more robust" front half shafts for Plaid??

I want to believe, but the part numbers are the same old part numbers. Any luck with these eliminating the vibration between 40 and 50 mph under light acceleration?

Did you try going into track mode and shifting the torque bias to the rear? That should completely eliminate it if it is the same problem we have.

Wiki Mega-consolidated delivery quality issues thread and checklist

FSD is much much better recently. But, I don't think that's related. They have great engineering, but terrible manufacturing.

I would meet at the buyers bank and watch them get the cashier's check right in front of you. Then you don't have to worry about it being fake and can take it to your bank at your convenience.

    BMS Balancing - Current Understanding

General question, what is a good level of balancing? < 10mV difference between cells? Asking for my eBike battery, which is currently 0.008V difference between the max and min cell groups. Obviously a different BMS, but similar cell chemistry (LG M50LT 2170 5ah cells).

Plaid center console light turns off when fully opened?

The replacement consoles have been correct for over a year. I eventually got working lights on my third center console on my 2021 sometime over a year ago. My 2024 is correct from the factory.

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Poor design. The 3/Y don't do this.
  15. n2mb_racing

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Yeah. It's started to vibrate. It's during the entire drive, not just the start. Only under light acceleration, on smooth roads. I'm kicking myself that I just sold my lowering links.

Model S/X Plaid slight vibrations when accelerating SOLVED

How long have you been driving it after replacing the half shafts? I had half shafts replaced twice. The vibrations came back after a week or two.

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Well, mine vibrates. Not quite as bad, but still there. So, yeah. Don't order one.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

Yup. A lot of other EVs support this. Tesla has not wanted to support this in the past, probably because of the number of cars floating around with free, unlimited supercharging. Though, I really can't imagine who has that much free time to drive to a supercharger to snag $5 worth of...

whoops. Sorry, yeah, I meant $90k. I paid $89,990, so I was adding $500, but did it wrong. ha. I was wishing I had the sport seats for just $500 more!

Master Thread: Definitive 14-50 NEMA Outlet Guide

Yes, if I were installing a new outlet run now, I'd go with a 6-50 to save money. Especially now that the UMC has an official 6-50 plug. Back in 2016 we thought NEMA 14-50 was the default and future proof.

The 3 doesn't need the adjustable suspension because the nose is shorter. It doesn't scrape as much like the S does.

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

The performance highland must have some new things to have more power. Might be things from the Plaid. But, still. Newish?
  24. n2mb_racing

    Wiki Model S Delivery Update

I drove the regular highland 3. I thought it felt as good as the model S suspension. The air is only the spring. The only benefit is you can adjust ride height. The new performance 3 seems to have adjustable dampers like the model S. It could be very good.

MASTER THREAD: Powering house or other things with Model 3

No, you can't charge the main battery from the 12v system. You need Ac power or high voltage DC direct to the battery, using the DC fast charging interface.

I drove the highland 3 and the ride quality and nvh were impressive. Save $45k and get the m3p.

ehhh.... maybe not. I thought I might have noticed the vibration starting on my 2024 now.... Of course, right after I sold off my lowering links, thinking I wouldn't need them!
  34. n2mb_racing

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

If you buy it from Tesla, they can remove sc01. If you buy it private party or dealer, they cannot.
  35. n2mb_racing

used p100ds now are dirt cheap. What's going on?

Yeah, it was when the lines got bad with no car in front. It would drive right off the road. It would follow the ghost old lines during construction, directly into a barrier.

Make sure you drive the highland model 3. The old model 3 suspension was harsh. The new highland model 3 suspension felt much better. Perhaps even smoother than my Plaid. I'm only 5'9", but the display is blocked for me. I think because I want the steering wheel adjusted to point towards my...

I actually wish the S didn't have a dash display. You can't see it anyway, the wheel blocks a good portion of it. The 3 is much more open feeling and spacious with bigger glass. I had a model 3 for 3 years and S's for 5 years. It really isn't a big deal with the speed over on the main screen...
