2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

What’s interesting is that Kia EV9s are having similar vibration issues. Read a post on Reddit and they don’t know what it is yet. But I expect them to actually dig into the issue unlike Tesla

    Quick Silver Y waiting room

There were a ton of white interior LRs two weeks ago. I have a bad feeling I’m going to be waiting for a long time unless I switch to a black interior MYP…

    Quick Silver Y waiting room

Ordered a QS with white interior MYP today. Says May to June. Let's see what happens. If nothing happens by the end of June, I'll grab something out of inventory with discounts Any opinions on the silver with white interior? I ordered it, but not completely sure yet

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

I leased. Basically they charged me for miles used. Everything else will be refunded.

POLL: vibration felt when slightly accelerating refresh Mode S Plaid or LR

Just accepted my buyback offer. More than fair for a year of use. Hopefully we see another revision in a couple years. I want another Model S in the future. There’s nothing like it

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Is it just me or did they remove the tax credit for leases?

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Waiting for my buyback to be finalized. But I’m for a blue/white M3P. Do we know if the 18s or 19s fit over the brakes? Going to go square setup with all seasons

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

They really need to hurry up with this. My MSP is getting bought back and I want a Highland Ludicrous

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Yeah I’m going to grab a Highland for the night to try out. Leaning towards the sedan

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Tesla has approved my buyback. Good riddance lol Now should I get a Highland Ludicrous or MYP?

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

if dynamic balancing is the same as road force, they’ve done both sets of my wheels like a dozen times. It doesn’t solve the problem
  12. C

Have they finally fixed the Model S yet? Interested in 2024 plaid.

I had my half shafts replaced. The vibration doesn’t go away at ANY ride height
  13. C

Have they finally fixed the Model S yet? Interested in 2024 plaid.

I’m running the stock 19s from the long range with Continental All Seasons

Have they finally fixed the Model S yet? Interested in 2024 plaid.

Cold start vibration from the front drive unit Shudder from 30-45 mph Vibration from yoke at highway speeds (over 70 mph) The vast majority of us with these issues have Plaids

2021+ Model S and Model S Plaid Refresh Issues Thread

I honestly don't think this can be fixed with software. Seems like a front motor issue. Motor mounts? Oil?
  16. C

Have they finally fixed the Model S yet? Interested in 2024 plaid.

Vibration issues are still present on the Plaids. Software update hasn't fixed anything for me. But other than that, build quality is solid on mine. No creaks or rattles. I think you're getting a new service center by Manchester, but I've had like 15 service visits in under a year. Mostly for...

    Maine!

I did this a couple years ago. If you lease, they wouldn't even ship the car. Had to go to NJ to pick it up.

    Supercharger - Scarborough, ME

Weird location, but glad to see Southern Maine getting blanketed with chargers
  19. C

Did I mess up? No more inventory / discounts for MYP?

They keep popping up randomly. For some reason, they only seem to be grey MYPs in my area

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

https://www.notateslaapp.com/news/1854/model-s-and-x-to-get-updated-battery-or-drivetrain-updated-wheel-ambient-lighting-and-front-bumper-camera It looks like we might be using a new drivetrain soon? Bets on whether they silently fix the problem?

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Has anyone been able to get a front drive unit replacement? Clearly a bunch of these are defective. If you go into track mode and set the power to the rear, the vibration goes away

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

Just got back from a long road trip. Basically up to around 87 or so, it's manageable. There's a slight vibration from the yoke. Above that, can't do it, especially if I cruise at 90
  23. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Car is back at the service center for a road force balance. The tech wanted to keep it overnight so they can drive it in the morning when the vibration is really bad. That being said, this MYLR (with acceleration boost) loaner is slow as hell 😂
  24. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

reporting back after a few days with the update. It seems to have minimized the problem if the car is warmed up. But on a full cold start (like sitting outside overnight), I still have that 30-40mph vibration. Suspension height doesn’t matter.
  25. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I've had the half-shafts replaced. It started vibrating as I drove home from the dealer lol
  26. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Just drove on some brand new roads. The vibration is pretty subtle tbh. I think I need to try another road force balance. They completely ****ed it up at my last service visit
  27. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

I guess this points to a motor issue. No way Tesla is going to be replacing drive units
  28. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Alright, I’ve been driving around. It’s still there, but less noticeable. Happens around 35ish MPH I’m going to book an appointment for next week and ask for a buyback
  29. C

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

Will report back this evening 😂

    Plaid Vibration around 38-42MPH....

    Just got the notification…

Refreshed model S Late 2021 sounds like an old box spring. Service?

Had my driver’s seat assembly replaced last week. The mattress box spring noise is gone

I just got 2023.38.9. Hurry up Tesla!

MS Plaid vs Taycan vs EQS

This is exactly the same issue I’m facing. If I go down the buyback path, what’s next? Do I go back to a MYP or get another Plaid? Not interested in a CCS car. I drive too much to deal with electrify America. I know the MYP won’t have any issues, but the refresh is around the corner. Ugh
  34. C

MS Plaid vs Taycan vs EQS

How long did the buyback take? I still need to request one by the end of the year. I wonder if a lease changes the timeframe on that. One of my local centers was like oh Vibration issues are eligible for a buyback which seems like BS to me
  35. C

2021 Model S Plaid Steering Yoke shaking at highway speeds

How do I request a buyback? One of my local service centers refuses to help. They say I have to go through lemon law. Anyone know the process?
  36. C

    Londonderry NH Sales/Service Center

Yeah I think there’s a loophole somewhere. I’ve purchased from Herb Chambers Audi and BMW many times. There is a slight delivery delay because they have to register the car but I’ve done it. They have to hand you the car with Maine/NH plates
  37. C

    Londonderry NH Sales/Service Center

Then how have I been able to buy many different BMWs and Audis out of Mass? And no, I never paid Mass sales tax.
  38. C

    Londonderry NH Sales/Service Center

That’s not completely true. Tesla just doesn’t want to deal with the headache. I’ve purchased many cars from Mass over the years. The car has to be registered before they can deliver and that creates a delay that Tesla doesn’t want to deal with.

Washington DC Area Mobile Car Wash

What is he charging now? I want to get a good wash in and get some sealant on the paint before winter
  40. C

    Mid-Atlantic Superchargers (speculation, discussion)

Has anyone seen more Magic Docks in the area? They seem to be upgrading the Northeast
  41. C

    Londonderry NH Sales/Service Center

NH is a godsend for Maine customers. Don't have to worry about the taxes. They can just hand you the car and you will pay sales and excise tax at your local town hall
  42. C

    buying a lemon?

Oh hell no, I'm already having enough issues buying a demo
  43. C

"Refreshed" Model S model VIBRATION tracking and information thread!!!

Hmm, I might have my service center remove the foam and see what happens. I'm guessing I'm going to get another road force balance and alignment once I take the car in. You'd think they would find this during testing. People are driving these car over 80mph on the highway 😂

    Model S Plaid All-Season Tires?

Interesting. Most of the MS LRs I've seen around here come with the Michelins on the 21s. My Plaid was delivered with them too
  45. C

Refreshed model S Late 2021 sounds like an old box spring. Service?

Might be your seat assembly. I have an appointment to get my driver's seat assembly replaced this week for a similar sound. They ordered it like a month ago
  46. C

    Model S Plaid All-Season Tires?

I picked up a set of the 19s with the Continental All-Seasons. Ride quality is night and day. If you're really want to run the 21s, TireRack has a set of Mercerdes-spec Continentals that fit on a Plaid and Goodyear does have a Tesla-spec set (goes on the MS LR). I was told to avoid them by my...

It's hard to compare between people. I'd shop your smaller local agents. I saved a lot of money doing that

Is the Model S a villian now?

Jokes on them. There isn't a better car for $90k. All I need to do is get the yoke swapped out
