    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I wasn't bothered by anything in 14.8 and haven't noticed any meaningful changes in 14.9

Are you aware that you can adjust the lumbar support using the round seat control? It should be able to retract quite well.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I installed 2024.14.8 yesterday and my indicators haven't changed. I just checked the function you described above and it is working. Perhaps you need a two-button reboot?

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

This is increasingly off topic, but actually airflow is very important for comfort. Ask an architect and they'll probably talk your ear off. You are correct that removing humidity is a big part of the benefit of AC in the tropics. But we also know that having air blowing over the occupants...

It will be interesting to see if "maintain comfort level better" means maintaining more airflow over the occupants.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

My complaint is the insufficient fan speed, even on the highest Auto setting. I end up using more energy to lower the car temperature, or else I have to take it off Auto (which is meant to be intelligent and energy efficient) and manually control the fan speed. I just wish Auto had a "Tropical"...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

I live in North Queensland and have not added tinting or a roof shield. When the car has been left in the sun, the roof gets hot like any other car. The only reason I am ever bothered is that the AC fan speed is never fast enough for a tropical climate without taking it off Auto.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have only used it around town, but find it a nicer experience, even just by reducing glare reflecting off signs. I first saw it in action when an oncoming model 3 dipped it's right-hand headlight to avoid blinding me. It was nice and quick. Overall, this looks like one of the better features...

    Model 3 Audio Review

That is how I do it. The car has a perpetual error saying that the connection is slow, but everything actually works just fine.

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

Yeah, you do have to question paying 25% more for the LR. That said, be aware that the RWD highway range is about 300km, much less than I had expected from Tesla's figures (and having experience of a Kona which delivers much closer to its claimed figures). People on this forum were saying...

Do you mean AWD or RWD? LR and Performance are All-Wheel Drive, while the cheapest model is Rear-Wheel Drive.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It picks up things that are further away than UsS can see. USS also sometimes performs poorly against curved surfaces I am still finding the Vision view hard to adjust to. Interestingly, I just finished towing a trailer (in trailer mode) and Vision did not show the trailer, but did show the arm...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Thanks for the reply. To be clear, though, Buderim is well and truly in south-east Queensland. You will still be seeing multi-lane separated highways there. We north Queenslanders love it when Brisbanites talk about how they have been "up north" and mean Noosa.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I notice that the drivers who recommend EAP all talk about using it in the south east of Australia. Do you see it having much utility in other areas? Most of my driving is in Queensland, and outside of the south-eastern corner. The Bruce Highway up the east coast is largely one lane in each...

You do still get some distance information showing in Vision. If you look at my images above the Vision one has yellow edges on the fuzzy blobs either side of my car, because those surfaces are close to the car. I don't know whether USS data is incorporated with Vision of if it is Vision alone...

Vision Park Assist will take some getting used to. I am not sure that the fuzzy blobs add anything in a normal carpark, but maybe they would alert you to non-standard obstacles in other situations? Here is a comparison:

There are a few insurance threads on this site. In summary, yes, Teslas are more expensive to insure than a lot of other cars, probably because they are expensive to repair. The cheapest I could find recently was $1300 - $1400 with a company I had never heard of. I ended up using NRMA for...

That might partly depend on how you are buying the car (through your own business versus a private purchase versus salary sacrifice as an employee).

    Charge On Solar Australia

Fair enough. I am not sure what the difference is. I have found CoS to work really well to avoid charging when I'm not producing enough power. I would still like control over prioritising the car or the Powerwall, but otherwise is has been good and I haven't been bothered by the car waking too...

    Charge On Solar Australia

Are you opening the app from the widget (which shows the status of the car, etc), or the app icon (which is just the Tesla logo)? I have both on my phone screen so I can use the icon when I just want to check the Powerwall, although I do find I forget to leave the app on the right screen pretty...

    Powerwall 3 Roadmap - 3 Phase Coming!

I can't say what the PW2 can do, but will offer a PW2 data point. I have 20kW of panels and a 15kW inverter, along with a PW2. Because I live in the tropics, it is quite common for my system to have filled the battery and be exporting close to 15kW for a few hours in the middle of the day (the...

I've enagaged lawyers in an attempt to recover FSD cost (Australian owner)

This forum is pretty good about allowing people to express negative opinions about Tesla (some users are less tolerant, but the forum itself is fine). I would not expect @jumpingfool to be treated any differently from other new users.

    Charging Adaptors 101

Excellent summary, @dronus . To be fair, I don't think @gm12 was suggesting the use of extension cords to circumvent safety. I read it as "Extension cords are capable of carrying the current*. My car was lowering it's charge rate because of heat in the plug. An extension cord would have...

    charging time

You might benefit from reading this thread. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/2-quick-charging-qs-for-a-noob.325225/ Wall-charger installation costs will depend a lot on your personal circumstances, especially the length of cable you will need to run. It might be best to just talk to an...

I've enagaged lawyers in an attempt to recover FSD cost (Australian owner)

I think a reasonable person, in the course of doing their own research, should be able to rely on public statements made by the CEO on behalf of their own company. Those statements should be substantially true at the time they are made. I also think that a reasonable person could view many of...

    Charging Adaptors 101

You can get by on 15A. I am still using 10A, but don't drive as much as you. However, there a times when I would like more - usually when I have done a long drive, the car is on 20% and I want to fill it as much as possible from my large solar array rather than charging from the grid...

    Single Phase Charging Options

Remember that you can limit the number of amps drawn by the car via the app. You could use a 32A circuit and a third-party 32A tail, but set the maximum amps to something lower if that made you more comfortable.

I've enagaged lawyers in an attempt to recover FSD cost (Australian owner)

If you mean the discussion about Elon Musk, then I disagree. This thread is about FSD not delivering what was promised. Mr Musk's statements about FSD would quite reasonably form part of a customer's expectation of how FSD would perform and be further developed.

    @Audietron , I didn't read @Zoltrix77 statement about Elon Musk as a compliment.

How do you listen to music?

Perhaps it would have been better if I had used the word "encouraging" instead of "pushing". Spotify have a free option because it is a gateway to the paid option. Having limited other options in the car means more people are more likely to use Spotify. Agreed. I also enjoy the relative quiet...

How do you listen to music?

I have been assuming that Tesla make money from Spotify by pushing their customers to pay for Spotify.

Public statements buy the CEO about the products would never have any bearing in your decision? I appreciate that few CEOs directly talk about their product features, but Elon Musk certainly has in the past, and clearly in a way that is intended as information for potential customers.
  38. J

How do you listen to music?

Yep. The inability to create playlists is an obvious example of the Tesla system lagging behind most other media players.

    Supercharger - Bowen, Qld

The hard part is the stretch from Rockhampton to Mackay. My MYRWD doesn't think it can get from Rockhampton's Supercharger to Mackay's QESH charger at highway speeds. Marlborough's QESH charger is broken all the time (including now), but you might be able to get 11kW via a BYO Mennekes cable...

Surely a Tesla-driver's tattoo would use Neural-ink. Then you would be just a firmware update away from being able to control your car with your tattoo.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Yeah, a modular design that allowed upgrades to parts like the computer, cameras, mobile network connection, etc would have been really nice and make good use of the "always being upgraded OTA" ethos that Tesla espouses.

Would you recommend Tesla Model 3 for a P plater?

Actually, yeah. I did that for a living for a year. My Tesla is the first car I've owned with a reversing camera. If you read a little higher up in this thread, I was advocating for drivers maintaining the habit of using their own direct vision when reversing instead of being totally reliant on...

Would you recommend Tesla Model 3 for a P plater?

Yup. All fun and games until the camera fails.
  44. J

Would you recommend Tesla Model 3 for a P plater?

While the turning circle is so bad that it is worth mentioning twice, I meant to say "The Model 3 has a wide turning circle and less-than-spectacular rearward vision." The cameras do really help with reversing, but I would prefer that all drivers - and especially novices - be incentivised to...

Would you recommend Tesla Model 3 for a P plater?

I think the OP is asking a sensible question with a couple of components. Should I buy a new car, or something older in case I damage it? And, should I buy a Model 3? Inexperienced drivers are more likely to make small mistakes like hitting curbs, swinging the front of the car into an obstacle...

Mine are still poor. I drove in rain today and needed to press the button frequently to see through the windscreen. Then, when the rain slowed to a few spots, the wipers went to full speed for about 30 seconds. Still so much worse than just old-style intermittent wipers with a frequency control.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I wondered if there was some kind of mix-up in the terminology. A Faraday cage would be effective, but I suspect (just from the tin-foil-hat way they are marketed) that a lot of the products marketed to block RFID chips are of very low quality. I could be wrong, but I am reassured that they...
