    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Worth installing 14.8 or waiting for 14.9? I see others indicate .9 is bug fixes, so maybe just wait u til it decides to offer 14.9? Thoughts?

National and State Renewable Energy stats

New here - I notice ACT is not listed, is that because it’s included in NSW? Would be I interesting to see ACT stats on their own.

Just checked on 14.3 on MY (Oct23 build) and they are not there. Could it be a Highland thing? Will probably update to 14.8 tonight.

Pedestrian Warning System (PWS) retrofit for AUD$380

I never had that… am only in 14.3 now with update to 14.8 ready to go tonight. Not sure why anyone would want the PWS sound inside… glad I never had it.

My hunch is the problem is your home wifi router having some filter/rules blocking half of the update conversation. That would explain your situation. I had similar and it turned out to be the parental filtering (Circle) on my netgear router. Turned that off and all was fine. I’ll hazard a...

Pedestrian Warning System (PWS) retrofit for AUD$380

Boombox only works while parked… and the sound is pretty tinny. I tried it with a Hellcat idling which sounded beautiful on the interior speakers, but through PWS just sounds tinny and try-hard. Also, the true PWS “UFO sound” only works in reverse and not forward at low speed like some Euro...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Doesn’t that lock the frunk? That may prevent them from doing the work properly? I had PPF and Ceramic done and had to leave it all as normal so they could access everything. All I could do was speed limit… but as my guys had a couple of Porsche GT3 Competition spec cars doing the same, they...

    Charging Adaptors 101

I think this is the big problem with the FUD about EVs - people who saw one once, or heard someone say something, making definitive pronouncements. A bit like the NSW FRS statements you called out recently @Vostok - totally ill informed. Agree- the smart controllers won’t be smart enough and...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Actually there is something wrong with that! It can be illegal to record/monitor people in their workplace unless it is a proper authorised and controlled system with consideration in the employment contract. That’s why I have seen a number of traditional car dealership with signs up telling you...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

That’s weird! I’ve had PWS on MY since I got in Nov23 (2023.32 something) and now on 2024.14.3 and have never had PWS sound inside the car (why would you want that?). Sure I can hear it, but always coming from outside the car. Wondering if that may have been a glitch on your car that the update...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I have to say my experience is very different. If anything I think it is a little too quick to block out- certainly earlier than I would if doing it manually. I LOVE how it is able to deal with multiple cars spaced apart, lighting the verges AND the gaps between cars. If there is too much...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I must say I didn’t think this until I got my Model Y… the position of the A pillar and the angle have created several instances where at an intersection I crossed out almost into another car, as they were right behind the A pillar. It is worse than any car I have had- unfortunately something I...

    Charging Adaptors 101

I agree. For any new/unknown socket with a UMC 10 amp tail I always start there (even without extension cable). Safest way to be sure it’s all good. After confirming for a good charge I’lll then ramp it up to 10.
  15. elddum

    Charging Adaptors 101

That is a must! Should never use an extension lead coiled anyway, let alone with a constant high draw. The EM will create heat and cause other problems

    Charging Adaptors 101

Like I found at a place I was staying… the socket had corroded and was arcing to the pins of my UMC inside the socket! Turns out the socket hadn’t been used in about 10 years and the house was by the sea… so plenty of salt corrosion. Found another socket that was more regularly used and after...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I noticed a couple of mentions of others on 14.3 that regen braking had improved (ie become slightly more aggressive, in a smooth way). Initially I didn’t see any change, but in the last few days I would say regen has been worse (not aggressive enough) on many occasions. Approaching same...

    Superchargers in Australia

While I would love to debate a “universal humanist principle”, and its place in the values of all people on earth… as others have shared we are way off topic now… and I respect the right for each of us to have our own views on that matter. I would love to see Tesla still progressing the...

    Superchargers in Australia

There is only what YOU BELIEVE is right and wrong - each person can have very different view. Don’t think anyone said it should be - but unless you were an actual employee impacted how do you know if your statement is true? Many others companies treat their staff poorly - just not so openly...

    Superchargers in Australia

So clearly Microsoft, IBM, SAP, Cisco... and many, many others are not competent businesses? That is exactly the model they have deployed many, many times with layoffs. Sure, they don't have an egotistical CEO that blasts it out on social media first... but the underlying process (and results)...

    Superchargers in Australia

The fact that Tesla Australia had no idea and no information on what happened either! Having worked for US tech companies for decades, that’s how it rolls. If everyone knew what was happening beforehand it would be leaked and that would cause worse labour and financial problems. I don’t like...

    Charging Adaptors 101

I’d stick with the UMC on 10 Amp circuit. That’s what I do and has worked for me for a good 6 months now with slightly lower kms. I am considering an upgrade, primarily to get a unit that will charge using excess solar only like a Zappi (as I’ve got 10kW solar and work from home often). Then I...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I had an issue that adaptive headlights wouldn’t engage in one instance until I engaged autopilot… that was a while after I had manually disengaged the high beam using the stalk (as I was in a quiet street and dazzling the neighbours bedroom late). I haven’t had time to test that thoroughly, but...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Had the chance to give the adaptive headlights a workout tonight on a number of trips back and forth along Hindmarsh drive… I like them! 👍 Fast reaction time, smooth transition, and quite good coverage of the verge and centre divide which is sooo important in Canberra this time of year to pick...

Hardware 4 in Australia and how to set home for a house in an estate.

I had a similar problem and found that setting home while on my driveway instead of in my garage did the trick. I guess in the garage the gps signal was not as good, so the approximation picked the next street over.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

This year- probably back in Jan24. When I say “aggressive” on the change I meant too fast for my liking. On a freeway at 115km with no other cars near, you don’t need to turn the wheel into the lane change so it’s over in seconds which is what I feel it does. I like a gentle drift across into...

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Desperately needed IMHO. I find I can only get about a 70% hit rate on the current recognition… and the commands are limited to pretty basic functions. (IMHO)
  36. elddum

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

I personally find that it’s too aggressive (it makes the lane change too fast and not a smooth transition) and on occasions it freaks out and cancels the lane change when there is nothing there.

Can’t fault that! The “geek toy” factor is a valid requirement in any purchasing decision.

I have EAP and don’t really use it. The Autosteer is not smooth, even jerky in gentle curves, and it overreacts to the surrounding traffic (same as TACC). It always wants to stick to the centre of the lane, regardless- even if there is a massive semi only a couple of feet away. When it works...

Couldn’t contain myself and installed the update last night and did a few drives today. No issues so far. Must say I really like the improvements! The full screen of the car when you enter looks cool, and a simple tap of the map upper left or swipe brings back the old Nav map and small car...

I think the coincidence is the update does a full reboot/restart of everything so clearing out any stuck gremlins… Id try the hard reboot on your phone as well when those things happen - much less frustrating than waiting for an update (although updates are more frequent these days)

Reboot? If you haven’t already I’d try that… and if still no good maybe a full power off? (not that I’ve gone that path myself). For other devices I often get similar on my wifi and a reboot or power off fixes. Might be quicker fix than service.

I’d disagree- Given we have the highest per capita penetration and fastest growing market (as % of population) ours is the ideal market to focus on bringing in and testing new and true improvements. Other tech has known this for years - Australians love their new tech toys. In times gone by we...

Wouldn’t be hard… but Tesla are light years behind in true usable UI… they need a lesson or two from Apple! Even with this improvements the UI is klunky, and items in sub menus often totally out of context. It’s always the same when the tech drives the UI instead of true user centred design.
