    Summon for Tesla vision owners?

I read that Tesla vision owners were going to get summon in April. It is now May. I haven’t been able to find anything more with a timeline. Does anyone have any info? I wish musk would spend less time thinking up uninteresting acronyms for his features and more time making them a reality…

Has anyone fit OEM rear 19" / 21" wheels on the FRONT of their MS Refresh LR Plaid

Better braking and handling. Stock 19” wheels have 255 wide fronts if you go to 305 you have now increased the tire size by 20% and traction and braking accordingly. This car needs it with how much it weighs.

Pushing the Plaid to its Design Limits?

Couldn’t give a single F about longevity or reliability issues if I’m using the vehicle as designed. But will do everything possible to preserve condition of vehicle as far as charging frequently only to 80%, etc

Model S Plaid - will the 10.5” wide 19” rear wheels fit on the front

Oh and do you need at least a 9mm spacer to fit 305 or will a 5mm work? Thanks for your help… saves me so much time vs. trial and error engineering this myself for the first time. Have you looked into changing alignment settings at all? If I can get this car to track straight at speed without...

Model S Plaid - will the 10.5” wide 19” rear wheels fit on the front

Appreciate the feedback. Cant believe the c6z06 fits a 305 front. I’m used to the mid engine cars with 235-245 fronts and cramped toe boxes. Any recommendations on where to pick up a 2nd set of rear rims? Direct from Tesla?

Model S Plaid - will the 10.5” wide 19” rear wheels fit on the front

Also if you’re auto crossing sounds like you know handling. Did lowering improve the handling without adjusting the dampening or did you do it primarily for cosmetic reasons?

Model S Plaid - will the 10.5” wide 19” rear wheels fit on the front

You are running 305 in the front? Wow. How is steering feel? Would 305s work with a 5mm spacer or do you need the 9mm?

Anyone have experience with changing tires at Walmart?

Do the Tesla service centers replace tires?

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

So I should just drive through a parking lot and the car will automatically offer the option to auto park? So far I haven’t seen that but if that’s the deal I’ll keep trying. Does it parallel park as well? What about summon- did they get that working as well?

    2023 Model S is a disappointment.

Good to know, thanks. How do you activate the auto park sequence?

I have a hw4 plaid and to my knowledge neither the summon or auto park features are active..?

    multiple systems disabled

Mine did this once. Like better part of a dozen errors. Steering was effed, no regen braking, no arc, no abs. Suuuuper dangerous. I blame tesla cheapibg out on the wiring harness and daisy chaining everything versus having multiple redundant systems

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

Are you talking about my cybertruck steering example? The cybertruck steering has effectively no redundancy and there’s no way it will be allowed in the EU https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=39600539

Are you aware of what I am talking about on the wiring harness design? If so you would know where I am getting it from. There is a post on the 1st page or two of this sub-forum with an owner having issues stemming from this design. I can link you to the information on it Tesla Patents Modular...

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

Where do you go from a plaid? There’s a reason so many super HNW folks drive them instead of something more expensive. There’s just really nothing out there better yet unfortunately. There’s competitors that aren’t quite as good (but still great)

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

The issue within the electronics is tesla does things to save money and wiring. For example a bunch of switches, I think the speakers and a ton of stuff is all on the same wiring loom so it’s a single point of failure which is why when something breaks you get multiple errors. Tesla touts this...

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

If you compare the exterior build quality- paint quality and panel alignment. All the teslas I’ve seen look like they were built in a tractor not car factory. The high watermark being say $200k+ European cars but even cheap Hondas and Toyotas have perfect paint and panel alignment. Some of...

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

This is 100% true with any more complex version of something else. Recent example- I got the low efficiency no frills HVAC system installed because I don’t want all the extra valves, speed controllers for variable speeds, etc etc it’s just more to break Take a look at a hybrid auto. It has...

Good Riddance: The '22 Tesla Model S Plaid Saga Comes to an End

Can you correlate it with other factors? Build location? Build date? Also one thing to keep in mind is the failure rate of pretty much any machine generally follows a bath tub curve. Many failures right away and then few for quite some time. So if your car is good out of the box you...

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

Btw the cluster I don’t want to use both. I want the camera app to display the blind spot cameras at the top. Possible or no?

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

2023. When I have the 3 cameras displayed all the time I can’t figure out how to get the blind spot cameras to be at the top. If I don’t show the cameras and use the turn signal when changing lanes then the blind spot camera feed is displayed at the top of the screen.

2023 Plaid- Max tire Size for 19” Square Tempest setup?

2023 Plaid- Max tire Size for 19” Square Tempest setup?

I’m going to run 10.5” tempest rear rims front and rear with larger tires for an OEM plus setup. I think I can go 295 front and 305 rear. But can I go any wider? Would 305 front and 315 or 325 rear fit?
  30. W

Model S Plaid - will the 10.5” wide 19” rear wheels fit on the front

I guess you could swap a rear wheel with the fronts and drive around and see if it works? Bumping this because I’m interested as well. Would like to maximize performance.

    Regen braking MS

Exactly. If you decelerate very slowly, potentially 0% recaptured as all deceleration comes from aero and rolling resistances. If you accelerate to a low speed then decelerate using maximum regeneration and no mechanical braking maybe 50-80% (who knows…).
  32. W

    Regen braking MS

Driving consumption is taking into account wind/rolling resistance. And could be 0% if you decelerate slowly enough only using wind resistance which is a lot
  33. W

    Regen braking MS

Generators are very efficient so I’d be surprised if efficiency were only 50% unless Tesla really messed something up. Or are you factoring in wind/rolling resistance as part of the % recovered calc? That could lower the % recovered to 0% if you were slowing down at a low enough rate.

Changing lanes - Info overload. Camera, mirror, graphics....

Rear view mirror, side view mirror, camera, then change lanes. Wish the camera display was at the top Of the screen and the screen was higher so you don’t have to look down at the floorboard and completely lose awareness of what’s going on in front of you. Poor design. I don’t use dash cluster.

    The optimal suspension settings

I just tried driving in track mode and omfg it's like a different car. Track mode is the only mode for me from now on unless I am trying to hypermile. Fix the damn auto wipers tesla!

My 2023 model s wipers don’t function correctly at all. When it is pouring rain they barely move and then when it’s lightly misting they will go full speed. And many times on a sunny day I’ll be driving and they will cycle once, I think because some sunlight is reflecting off the sensor...

I want to go from my P100D to a plaid(new or used) but should I wait for 2024?

FYI I think you pretty much always need to upsize rotors when going CCB as they have a lower coefficient of friction than steel

2023 MSP Radar Detector install with Mirrortap. Anyone find a solution?

Please keep us posted on your progress. I have a 23 s plaid with hw4 as well and have spent more time with a voltmeter trying to figure out power than I’d like to admit. At one point I got my v1g1 radar detector to power up and then when I went to permanently install the power harness there...
