    285/40/19

285 is a very tight fit on the front and is dependent on the tire(not all are the same), rim offset, width and alignment. It fits fine in the back

    Model Y Rear Sway Bar

If anyone wants to trade a stock 23.6mm rear bar for the performance 25.2mm one, let me know. I want the smaller bar to match the smaller front I installed. Located in bay area California.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

If it's just cosmetic damage to the bumper then it's a simple swap and wouldn't affect the value of the car.

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

It threw a code and the airbags most likely won't work. As much as I want this to work, it does not.

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Our local service center always pumps the tires to 46psi when you go in for a service. I feel that they do it to maximize range at the cost of comfort. It's part of their MO. 42 is too high IMO. Tires will support the max load at 35psi. Simple physics.
  9. Sweed269

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Tesla always overinflates. It increases efficiency.
  10. Sweed269

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

The stock tire can carry the max gross weight at 35psi, which is where the tire alarm illuminates. Anything over 35 is safe. Up to the max psi of the tire. I tend to hover around 38-39 cold in the morning.

Would you Purchase a model Y Again?

I love my Y and nothing else can replace it for the price. It does everything I need and exceeds all my expectations. There are things I fixed to make it even better and I wish it had more range, but I've never needed more range in the last 6 months, so it's not really an issue.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

The NVH part of the chassis has definitely been improved. This has more to do with where they placed the sound and vibration absorbing materials. I did a full Dyno matt and MLV install in my car for a stereo install and it made a huge improvement in suspension noise transmission. Tesla...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Did it? Everything looked the same too me. The lower spring arm has a slightly different design, but same mounts. There is a bushing instead of a bearing in the upper rear camber arm mount for the LR cars. All their old parts are still going to work. The new shocks and springs bolt to the...

Very small tweaks. The new shocks and springs fit on the old cars. It's basically 95%+ the same other than the tuning of the shocks and springs.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Nothing has fundamentally changed with the suspension. Aftermarket coilovers fix it and make it exactly what you want it to be. It's all about better tuning.

Anybody got a front lip installed?

JPD engineering lip added. Fiberglass with carbon overlap. Very ridged and well made. Some variance along the top edge. Aero integration looks super smooth and I need to test my highway wh/mile. Build quality is a 7.5. Mounting is a 8, but would be higher if the top was perfect. Price was...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

There are no direct comparisons. They do compare to tires that have been compared to them. For example the PS5. They are very new and you need to amalgamate the data to infer if it has the desired traits you want. IMO it's probably the best all around max summer tire. Mostly in noise, wet...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Stock Model y suspension tuning is still pretty bad. Geometry and kinematics are very good. I budgeted for coil overs before even buying the car. It's good to hear that the Model 3 finally has a good factory suspension.

    H&R Adventure Spring Lift anyone?

Model Y Suspension: Front 115mm shock stroke with about a .66 motion ratio for 170mm ish wheel travel. Rear 160mm shock stroke with about a .87 motion ratio for 180mm ish wheel travel. .60 spring ratio. Front spacer keeps stock bottom out to droop ratio. You need a 31% longer spacer for the...

MY 2024/2025 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The Y has had a lot of upgrades. They are just all under the skin or small tweaks that you don't "see". A new Y is probably at least a year away and it will ramp slow, just like the 3. It will also be in high demand for at least a year while it ramps, limiting incentives. I have driven the...

MY 2024/2025 Refresh - Project Juniper?

The current model Y has all of the upgrades available and is the best EV SUV for the price. You can always wait and get stuck waiting forever. Don't buy, they are going to bring out a new one soon. Don't buy the first year of new production. Don't buy until they put stalks back in...... Just...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Wider tires hurt range and improve handlining on the Model 3/Y. Tesla only under sizes the fronts for range numbers. In a straight line it doesn't matter. I will never understand how terminal understeer is "safer". A neutral that can both understeer/oversteer depending on driver inputs is the...

Newer Ohlins TES MX00S1 on my 21 MYP, review lite.

You 100% need the redwood top hat bump stops. The top hat bushings are not designed to take bottom out forces. I wouldn't risk installing without them.
  27. Sweed269

Newer Ohlins TES MX00S1 on my 21 MYP, review lite.

I paid $170 for the set. Whatever you need should be under $300. You need at least 2-3k more rate in the rear to get a "flat" ride. Otherwise the car will have a pitch ride. Flat ride makes the whole car rise up and down in sync and pitch rocks you back and forth.
  28. Sweed269

Newer Ohlins TES MX00S1 on my 21 MYP, review lite.

I have spacers for the R&T kit so I used a 203mm 65mm swift spring. Stock rear spring is 178mm long. New kit uses different adapters and springs. I think redwood has a spring that would fit or you could get a set of adapters with the swift spring.

Newer Ohlins TES MX00S1 on my 21 MYP, review lite.

I'm on the newest Ohlin's street tune with 7k front/11k rear springs at factory MYP ride height. Yesterday with 4 people and some luggage we just touched the rear bump stops on a bigger freeway compression. IMO 8k rear springs are too soft, especially loaded. You would need to increase the...

Epa range is a joke. It should be tested and advertised for real world range. For example distance at 35mph average (town) and at 75mph (highway).

    Considering 245/40/19

It would lower your car reducing ground clearance. If you must have PS4S then get the 265 or 275 40 19. Both will fit. 275 is about the max front fitment without camber arms. Smaller tires lower your gear ratio and make the car slower above 50mph too

    Hail on Glass Roof

If the hail is big enough to break your windshield then it will break the roof. The roof is laminated so it won't come apart. The rest of the car will be heavily damaged too.

    Help adjusting coilovers

Most garage floors are not really flat. At least mines not. I feel that using the fixed points of the damper are better for a home setup than the ground clearance as it has a lot of stacking tolerances. Ground should be checked to make sure it's in the range you want. I personally had all...

    Help adjusting coilovers

Adjusting 1 corner affects the other 3. Then you need to put the car down and move it around to settle the suspension. Even if you don't adjust it, just lifting moving and remeasuring will change you measurements. It's simply not repeatable unless you have it on posts instead of wheels and...

    Help adjusting coilovers

I went down this rabbit hole and there are just too many variable that change for ride height to be a good balancing tool. Bushing flex, chassis flex and suspension bind all make it a moving target. Alignment is changing with adjustments too and effects the height. I would personally even...

    Help adjusting coilovers

Chasing the ride height is a fools errand. Let's assume your springs aren't terrible and are similar enough to not matter side to side. First set the total length to the required setting. Then measure the thread gap to the adjuster and set them the same side to side. If the front or rear needs...
