Just had confirmation from the Tesla service centre that indeed it is a software fault and that hopefully the more people that register it as such then one day there will be a fix in the OTA updates...!!

Well after i take a video and send it to the engineer, i guess he will be able to tell me what it may be! It might be that the problem with the software or the sensors is more common than we think... I will keep you updated my friend :)

When you say 'left the hitch in place' you mean is the towing hitch still connected to the vehicle? If this is what you are asking then yes it is but i have left it on the car before with nothing attached and there is no red indicator on the screen, the blue one simply goes out when the load is...
