Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I can't find it on draggy so perhaps not verified, but even so, shows 10s are very much on for a stock car. Just need to get the batteries nice and warm

    New Model 3 Performance news

To ba fair, there isn't anything on the US spec ones either. It's just tidbits here and there. Bit of a mystery. The early performance figures look good, the car's seem great, so I don't see why Tesla would be hiding behind a NDA. But it is a bit unusual to not have full fledged reviews from...

    New Model 3 Performance news

I haven't added mine to the tracker yet. So that's 8 lol, I ordered 4mins after 10am when it launched. Hard to know how many superficially, but I have noticed over the last 2 years, our work carpark has slowly changed into a pretty high (certainly higher than the national average)...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Good news for the LG pack guys. That 0-100kph is only 0.08sec slower than the 3.15sec run of the guy who did the 11.03@122 run and would actually slide into 3rd spot on the leaderboard out of the 10~ 0-60/0-100 times we have so far. While the over 70mph speed will likely be a couple tenths...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

That looks like the ferrari draggy. Which is within a tenth of my 0-100 draggy in nonideal conditions. I think the point of the post was to point out the value to speed equation, which in Australia is off the chart, nothing comes close.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

It's just how it works in cars. 0.1sec doesn't REALLY matter in the real world, but to many people, there is a world of difference between a 10.99 and a 11.00. It's always been this way and will likely be this way in 50 years. It does suck that federal incentives often don't matter the...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

It's 0.5~sec faster to the 1/4 with the SAME peak power. That's actually amazing.
  8. V

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Take the us times. Add a couple of tenths. Might still even crack the 10s in ideal conditions. At the end of the day, there's nothing we can do about it and there really isn't anything else that's as fast or well rounded for this kind of price.

Ultra Red: What Made You Pay Premium For It?

In Australia, Any combo was still under the cap for our incentives for new EV's (which are quite good now). - so no deal breaker 70% of cars on the road are white - white's too common I have owned blue, silver, grey and white cars - wanted something different I live in QLD which get very hot...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

I was planning to goto the supercharger, but I only had the car for 30mins and the highway was 15~mins away, so from the dealership I went straight out to the highway, so no preconditioning (i forgot to do the navigate to s/c trick) and no highspeed running before the timed run. Defiantly room...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

No doubt the US car will be faster. I would like to get a chance to get a 90+% conditioned SOC run in. I think it will be a bit closer than this. My advisor said I could have a longer test drive in a week or so once the crazy hype dies down a little bit.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

It's the same car with the same battery and the same motors, the performance motor will arguably make it worse. The only real levers in the toolkit is software tweaks and the highland very SLIGHTLY improved aero. Big leaps forward will need new platforms which I am sure they are working on...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

75mph is illegal for more than 75% of the population so it's not that relevant for most. The thing about "real world range" is, its different for everyone, what you consider real world is very different to the next person. As we know there's a dozen different factors on any given day that...
  17. V

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

It's the same battery so the "peak" power will be the same. The main differences will come with how it's deployed. It's a update, not a new car. It launches harder and likely hangs longer before falling off.
  18. V

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

Remember I have already done a 0-60 no rollout 3.17 to 60 with a LG car with 1 pull, so there's no doubt the US cars will go faster.
  19. V

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The hellcat also has the aero of a brick and amazingly weighs a lot more than a m3p. Theres no doubt at the very top top top end it would be faster, but back in reality land where it matters, i don't think so.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I like how people just say this without having ANY idea of the new car's top end. Perhaps a 100+ roll it will. But at any sensible speed it wont. Probably, we don't know yet, but it's an educated guess.

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

So do I, its only 0.22sec faster than my ROW 75%, cold battery 3.34sec to 100kph run. I just looked up the price difference here in Australia, a Taycan Turbo with a couple of options is $360,000 lol. The M3P is $80900. A Bmw M3 XDriveComp is $200000. You ain't getting faster for cheaper...

    New Model 3 Performance news

I mean, they have explained why. The early days of the M3 ramp up was hell and making the production lines very different just wasn't a logistical option at the time. It's not like today where they make money on every car and have the mature production capacity to do it.

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

From what i understand there isn't a lot, So while the actual electric motor doesn't need running in, there is still bearings and gearsets and other mechanical parts in the drive unit that does need a few hundred km before it's fully ready to go. Same with brakes and suspension components. A...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

I just don't want people to overreact on the basis of ONE run that stopped at 62mph with a cold battery and 75%soc. If I remember I had to change lanes on the run as well, something as simple as that can affect it. It's also the LG pack which will behave differently the the Panasonic pack. Use...

No doubt, although I don't know for sure, I can just about guarantee the battery was cold. The car wasn't charging when i got there, i drove through a few mins of traffic at low speeds, then just punched it once. We wont really be able to test until owners get cars, which the USA looks like...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

Here is my general impressions past the numbers. The power felt strong and consistent. Traction is excellent. It was damp with wet patches and it still pulled strong with no tramlining. Mashing the throttle at 30mph was smooth and gained speed very very quickly, as you would expect. Based on my...

I have had some but limited time in a prefl m3p. But it has been a while so hard to make direct comparisons. As for the new car. The power felt strong and consistent. Traction is excellent. It was damp with wet patches and it still pulled strong with no tramlining. Mashing the throttle at...

2024 Model 3 Performance Announced - Discussion thread post announcement

I mean context is important. For direct comparisons you would need to have the cars side by side in the same conditions. This was damp, with the 20s with 75% soc , with a 220lb driver and just a single run, launching from a very much unprepper side of the highway. The 60mph to 100kph is worth...

I know the person who said this. He has owned a 2019 m3p with extensive fast car experience. I just can't believe he would make such a rookie error. I test drove it today and it felt very fast, although I don't own a current m3p to compare. It did do a 3.1 to 100kph(3.0 to 60) without rollout...

I had my draggy with me. Some context. It was cold and quite damp with some rain around, 69deg Fahrenheit. SOC 75%. 220lb's of me the driver. I only had the car for 30mins as there is HUGE demand for test drives at the moment. The highway speed limit near the city is 100kph. I only had the...

I also just did a brissy drive haha. It was a bit rainy, cool and damp but I took it out to the highway and got a 0-100kph on my draggy gps. 75% soc, 100kg driver. 0-100 in 3.34, 3.14 with roll-out exactly as claimed. No doubts it would be faster in better conditions. Unfortunate that we...

Ok boys and girls I have good news and bad news. Bad news. I only got 30mins with the car but even worse it was drizzling. I'd call it a light rain, enough for wipers at times. I weigh 220lbs. Soc was 75% with 21deg celcius/69farenheit. All I could get was a single 0-100kph run, so keep that...

Model 3 Highland White interior (US) waiting room

My Audi RS3 estimate changed 4 times and varied by 3 months when I bought it new a few years ago. Except it was worse because they didn't bother to tell me and I had to follow it up a million times. I feel like Tesla get's overly criticized not because it does things differently, but because...

Why do people even bother watching it. We know that it always changes and basically can change at any time right up until a few days to go. Only makes it harder on yourselves lol

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

That's the thing, everyone who HAS driven it says it is significantly changed. 20% more power across the power band above 60mph is a lot. That's 100hp more over 60mph, that is pretty significant. Anyway, all the speculation will be over soon. Looks like deliveries are imminent in the USA and I...

    Model 3 Performance/Ludicrous Waiting Room

My only real issue with it, is it makes the car considerably slower, I can't remember which review I was watching but it was more than a second slower to 60 and just in general slower because the added gear shifts just delayed the power, it purposely added "lag" to feel like a combustion engine...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Bro, how many times do we have to tell you. That isn't ACTUALLY what the cars make. Tesla could say they transform into a submarine for all I care, but we know in the real world what they make. Tesla marketing is the least accurate of the 4 ways we can find the power ratings. They have the same...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Except it isn't 10% more power, its actually more like 4% more with 40lbs more weight. Tesla can say 460/510 all they want, the cars don't make that. What I'm saying is, the batteries are the same so we know what the max power the cars can draw is, that's 556hp~ for the LG and 580hp~ for the...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

We have been through this. They are, but only just, like 30hp above 70mph and they also weigh 20kg more. The 0-60mph and 0-100kph time is the same for both batteries. Tesla also "say" 460hp and 510hp, when in reality we KNOW the peak power difference is actually 555hp to 585hp and the same as...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The table doesn't make sense in some ways, it shows 90% soc being slower than 70% which we KNOW isn't true. Likely a traction issue. If you look at the battery temp differences in the table there is a 20degre delta which is huge and likely a big cause for the differences. While this kind of data...
