Tesla Light Show: Custom Show Creation

Slightly off topic but can one start the light show through the app? It seems klugy that one needs to go into the car and set the menus up and then get out to show it. It would be great if we could just start it from our phones while at a car show or ride and drive.

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

Sorry but I disagree as ideology is ALWAYS part of the issue. We as humans have many problems confronting us. We have several significant wars, poverty, unwanted immigration, large deficit spending, high inflation, hunger/starvation, climate change,.......... So what is the priority? Which...

Did I just experience the lack of Black Start capability?

Assuming the PowerWall is similar to my FranklinWH AC coupled battery, if the batteries are above say 85% solar is turned off if how loads are modest as it has no where to put the power. The FranklinWH, at least on paper, has a good black start capability. A black start is when your battery...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

While I think the person with 9 shares should be behind bars, I personally think he has little to do with the share price. Bigger factors include in no particular order: A) Flat or declining sales, WAY different than 50% average growth a year. B) Margins are in decline. C) CyberTruck...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

From my Roadster days you needed to be above 82% to balance with 100% being better. Most lithium batteries have a fairly flat voltage curve from 20-80% so it is very challenging to balance as the voltage is nearly the same. But at high and low voltages you see the imbalance between cells...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

I would and I do. Below 80% the cells are unable to balance. So range is at the lowest calculated brick. A 100% charge calibrates the BMS and allows cells to balance. I am at 127,000 miles and am at 93% of new.

Prediction: Coal has fallen. Nuclear is next then Oil.

I do not count 800,000 a trivial number. From my quick research that is 8X the forced labor in China. Employment According to a 2022 American Civil Liberties Union report, about 800,000 people work in state and federal adult prisons, with most jobs related to prison maintenance, laundry, or...

Charging at Airbnb with Dryer Outlet During Colorado Road Trip

While I have done this a few times with a Lowes run, there are few "standards" so one needs to be flexible. First a 120V outlet will often work. So be prepared to use that. If the owner is open to you using the dryer outlet, remember most dryers are 30A and so 24A of sustained charging. The...

For my hybrids have a place, a small place, but we like towing a small camper and preferer National Parks and National Forests where the nearest plug can be 30+ miles away. Our RAV4 Prime fits the bill nicely. If we have power we plug in and get some 40 miles of EV range for touring around...

Do FSD strikes ever get reset without striking out?

I struck out and it is frustrating. If you look at the screen, or at least if I look at the screen I get a strike. Annoying when Tesla reroutes you and you are trying to see what is going on. So far I am not impressed. While helpful, all passengers so far greatly prefer my driving and cringe...

How to fix Tesla Customer Service

Sorry but I just went to the service center for the 2nd time in over 6 years to get my computer upgraded for free thanks to FSD. Service was good, I test drove a Model 3 Highland, amazing and I found out they replaced my 12v for free and I was NOT having any issues. I do not know how they...

    Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

But here is the reality. If the new slimmed SuperCharger team deployed half the sites in the next 6 months as they did in the past 6 months would not Tesla still be the leader? Entire Supercharging Team Fired?

Not a very effective way to encourage your employees to speak up. A certain amount of discussion should be expected and firing the entire team has likely done far more harm than good. While Elon is very good he has also made mistakes as in the Boreing Company and Solar Roof tiles.

This is why I went solar...

NE Tennessee here. We have net metering but the base montly charge has gove from $7.50 to $19.37 since I installed solar some 11 years ago. Still even at $19.37 to have access to a HUGE battery, 1700kWh in my case last year is worth 126 PowerWalls for example. Last year we ran out of credits...

Is it time to dump and run?

Speaking just for me as a LONG time Elon and Tesla fan, it seems to me he has lost his focus on sustainable transportation and is after the new shiny toys, like Twitter and FSD. Power quality issue: possible causes?

While 12.3.6 is good I still have yet to have a single trip without a needed intervention. It still requires full attention on the road and a hand on the wheel. So we are closing in on Level 3 which is still away from Level 5. Most interventions have been minor, avoiding a deep hole/sewer on...

I guess I am not as sold that FSD would lead to a 10x reduction of cars. People still need to be at school at 7 am and done at 2:30. Most work starts at 8 and ends at 5. The weekend ball game begins at 2. So the need, the majority of need is not evenly spread out through the day.

Elon Musk Discussion - Tesla Brand Damage

I unfortunately agree. Two friends who just purchased EVs (non-Tesla's) said the major reason they did not consider Tesla was Elon. The SuperCharger layoff seem crazy as that in my opinion, is their crown jewels. Maybe in a year when all other manufactures have incorporated it, but not now...

Not that I recall after a number of tries. I wonder if the three phases on your typical 3 phase circuits were my main challenge. And since I now have a Model 3, I rarely use level 2 public charging. Even 60A would be very slow compared to SuperCharging.

Protesting that Israel should treat the average Palestinian with fairness and some dignity is not being antisemitic. Likewise one should not shame a Jew as the average Jew has nothing to do with the slaughter of the Palestinians. Treat people as you would want to be treated.
