Poll - Who really need a model 2?

Impossible to answer without knowing its range, cost, and features. I may replace my 2018 M3 in a few years, so I would take a look at it once more info is available.

FSD v12.x (end to end AI) Highway mode?

I am running 2024.3.15 (FSD 12.3.4) on my M3LR. When will the new "end-to-end AI" run on the highway? My understanding is that that is still using FSD 11. I had hoped to see some improvement with FSD 12 on the highway, not so much....

    FSD 12.3.3 Phantom braking

Really, I thought V12 was a uniform for all driving modes. I am confused, please provide more information.

I had mine brake unexpectedly a few days ago on HW 880 in the SF Bay area.

    No Navigation, Camera, Camera

Got the car back from service. The good news is that it is all working again. The bad new was that they replaced the HW3 computer (~$2300). I hope that doesn't happen again.

    No Navigation, Camera, Camera

Thanks, I have done 1. and 2. They moved my mobile service to bring it to the service center next week.

    No Navigation, Camera, Camera

Last Friday on my 2018 M3LR, I noticed that the navigation (doesn't show current position) and cameras stopped working. Car drives fine as well as remote access via the app. When driving, shows speed, but nothing around the car. I have tried a soft and hard reset, no changes. Scheduled a mobile...

2023 Y 2300 miles - no cameras, autopilot or gps

Last Friday on my 2018 M3LR, I noticed that the navigation (doesn't show current position) and cameras stopped working. Car drives fine as well as remote access via the app. When driving, shows speed, but nothing around the car. I have tried a soft and hard reset, no changes...

Poll: How many are still using original 12V Battery that came with the car?

A few weeks ago, I got an alert that my 2018 M3LR 12volt battery needed to be replaced. Made a service appointment for the next day. The service appointment took about 45minutes, and cost about $125. Overall, pretty painless.

Two Tesla, car selects wrong driver

Not sure if this is the best place to post this. We own two Tesla's (2018 M3 and 2022 MY). We first set up a profile for each of us with the supplied keycards in both car (w/ our first names). Somewhat later two additional profiles appeared, with our email addresses. These are the ones...

Does lowering the charging rate save electricity?

No, it shouldn't make any appreciable difference. Same amount of watt hours in either case.

    FSD took wrong exit

Thanks for the responses. First time this happened to me. It (FSD beta) has been working pretty well for me on the highway. Another reminder this is a long way from being done.

    FSD took wrong exit

    FSD beta (v11.4.7.3).

    FSD took wrong exit

I was driving southbound on 101 with FSD about a week ago. The navigation correctly announced I should get off at the Embarcadero exit, but much to my surprise FSD decided to get off at University Ave exit (one exit too soon). I have never had it do anything like that before. I am...

Could Tesla sell their Supercharger "division"?

I think the answer is No. After we complete the worldwide transition to EVs, I wouldn't be surprised there is more revenue in the charging side than in selling EVs.

    Model Y Rear Passenger Door

Doesn't seem normal to me. Make a service appointment to have it fixed (include pictures).

Trying to Justify the Cost of Enhanced Autopilot

We didn't get it on our 2022 MYLR (actually they didn't offer it separately then), and have not added it since it was offered separately. I have a hard time justifying it at $6K even though the features would be nice. I have FSD on our 2018 M3LR and us it (when my wife isn't in the car...)...

Keeping my model 3 Long term.

My plans for my 2018 M3LR are to keep it as long as it is reliable. It has about $53K miles and FSD. Putting less miles on it since my wife got a MYLR. The charge capacity is within 10% of new (one of the reasons why I got the LR). I might consider a different EV in two to three years once...

    Drill Front License Plate

I installed these on our M3 and MY about 18 months ago. Slipstream Bracket® for 2020-2023 Tesla Model Y by ThatGrin Works great, easy to install, no drilling or adhesive, and includes replacement security screws for the back license plate. I am happy with it.

    Milage at delivery

It's a car designed to be used for many years and hundreds of thousands of miles. It's not going to be worn out for being driven for 18 miles or having a few people touch it.

    Milage at delivery

18 miles seems fine to me.

Range Loss Over Time, What Can Be Expected, Efficiency, How to Maintain Battery Health

I don't think it will make any difference. Though, of course, you don't want to be charging to 100% on a regular basis.

Poll: How many are still using original 12V Battery that came with the car?

I was wondering about that. Can I have Tesla come and do it via a mobile service call?

Poll: How many are still using original 12V Battery that came with the car?

Tesla replaced my 12 volt battery after I had me M3LR for about 6 months. Been good since then.

Going on first road trip (around 285 miles one way).. New owner.. Just a few questions. Thanks

As the previous poster said, just use the navigation in the car to route to your destination. It will route you to Superchargers and the car will do the preconditioning. I use ABRP to plan a trip before hand, but use the cars navigation on the actual trip. It is better for that because...

How much are you willing to pay for FSD V12?

Not sure, but I don't think this is a decision I will have to make anytime soon. I have FSD Beta on my 2018 M3, it seems to have regressed after the last update. It will also depend if Tesla will give me a credit for buying it for my 2018 M3 but not getting a "fully working" version until...

    Model Y....should I wait for 2024?

Tesla doesn't do model years like other car manufactures. They tend to updates. periodically, very hard to predict when. The changes tend to be incremental. If you wait until 2024, then you will probably wait until 2025 because there will be changes, then you will wait until..... If...

Tesla could at least offer a compact spare tire as an option.

Raise your hand if you feel forgotten on the trunk camera harness recall

I scheduled an annual service for my M3 and included the harness recall. Mobile service came yesterday and did the annual service (air filter, brake fluid check, etc.) and replaced the harness. All good.

Daily commute is 10 miles - Should i charge daily ?

While I am sure you will get a lot of different responses to your question, my answer is no. You do not need to charge daily if you are only driving 10 miles per day. What I do is (except before a long trip) is to charge to 90% and don't charge again until it is less than about 100 miles of range.
  38. B

Turn off FSD on the freeway?

I have been turn on the "minimizing lane changes", that works pretty well on the highway. I only wish it was a permanent setting, not having to do it per ride. I will try the clicking L or R on the right scroll wheel.

Raise your hand if you feel forgotten on the trunk camera harness recall

My still says that they will contact me when parts are available.

do you get irritate by people around you asking about Tesla?

No, I am happy to talk about my experience with our Tesla cars.
  41. B

What devices stay on when charging?

I think you are being way too conservative with your battery. I have a 2018 M3 LR, my charging protocol is to charge to 90%, 95% to 100% before a long trip, and don't charge until I am below about 100 miles of range. I charge at home, only use superchargers when traveling. The car is...

any reason why a new 12A outlet in a garage keeps tripping, and why is my Amps keep changing after supercharging

Might be the GFCI being faulty. They have a history being too sensitive. I agree with others that you would be better off with a dedicated circuit.

    BMW folks comments on Tesla

My previous three cars before getting my 2008 M3LR were BMWs. I think that a lot of Tesla's sales are to former BMW and Audi owners. I will consider another BMW once they have a good EV model and I am comfortable I can charge it on a road trip.

Document Your Settings, Just in Case?

I have had a Tesla since April 2018, and this has never happened after countless updates.

MYSR is now $4k lower than MYLR. Which one to choose?

If it was me, I would get the LR. Of course, you will get more range, but over time the total range will decrease. If you plan to keep the car for a while, you will get better range over its lifetime.
  46. B

    Doors left unlocked?

Then that shouldn't be the problem.
  47. B

    Doors left unlocked?

Is she using her phone or the card key. The walk away locking only works with the phone. If you use the card key, you have to lock the car manually.

There will be NO HW4 upgrade for HW3 owners

I have "FSD" on my 2018 M3, but like you we didn't buy it when we got a MYLR last year. What's the saying, fool me once, shame on you, fool me again, shame on me. I am doubtful that my M3 will get real FSD in its lifetime. Fortunately, I purchased it as an upgrade when they had it on sale...

SF Bay Area - Wall Charger required?

I have the earlier version of the wall connector and am happy with it. It's mounted outside my garage (near were we park our cars. I discovered when we got our second Tesla the cord was long enough to reach either car.
