Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

After everybody has posted their alignment specs, I think maybe one person had a decent "pro-tire life" readout. We're seeing a camber reduction, but toe is still aggressive. I think we're going to see people with visible inner tire wear, from toe, at around 6k miles. It'll be exaggerated if the...

Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

Lazy tech (you get what you pay for). That being said, caster is the least important value. You want it for the self centering effect and similar on both sides, but it's fine. I question whether the OP could actually tell the difference before/after the alignment If you're interested in the...

Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

Good luck. Firestone will align to Tesla spec. You might get lucky and have a tech who is willing to adjust to your liking, you also might get one that aligns to the extreme ends of "acceptable"

Lion vehicles do not have a low voltage enabled pin. It’s in the manual.

    Help adjusting coilovers

My shop floor isn't flat either, but it can be shimmed to be level. But, that doesn't usually become an issue until you're aligning the car. Not so much of a big deal for setting the ride height since we're trying to get it close and not perfect. I think we might be saying the same thing though...

    Help adjusting coilovers

I don't completely agree with that. If the fronts and rears are set equally prior to install you can very close. Make equal adjustments, roll car to unbind suspension, measure ride height. That being said, ride height is important but it's not the end all be all for a street car. Get it close...

    Best tires for 2024

    Help adjusting coilovers

what do you mean balancing tool? i preset all four corners prior to install, measured the ride height, wrote down the approx height change with 10 turns, then dialed the car in with the appropriate ride height and rake. rears are quick, fronts were more of a pain since there was tension, but...

    Help adjusting coilovers

Use a measuring tape from the battery pack points to the floor. It’s accurate enough. It’s a lot harder to adjust on the car, especially with those crappy adjusters. Honestly, if I need to make an adjustment I’ll pull the fronts and conpress the springs so there’s no tension. Rears are a few...

    Goodyear Eagle F1 tire damage?

40psi doesn't sound abnormal on track. I've run 200TW summer tires anywhere from 33-40 PSI. You may need some more camber or may need to change your driving style. Next time you're on track find an instructor in a Miata and they'll probably be able to help sort you out. No harm in marking the...

    Goodyear Eagle F1 tire damage?

Yeah, people are driving with street pressures on track. Are you having issues on street or on track? Have you marked the sidewalls if you're concerned about it rolling?
  22. ngng

    Vendor Official Tessie app talk

Along those lines, have you considered virtual odometers? It'd be nice to either tag or create a trip odometer for tracking different vehicle configurations; e.g. summer vs winter wheels and tires, different tires, different alignment changes

FSD take rate after free trial 2%

Yeah, I think the difference between $20 and $50 is just noise. The viz has gotten better, but non-FSD vs FSD side by side is glaring. With the new v12 UX the old viz on the full screen is pretty bad!

FSD take rate after free trial 2%

I went through a similar exercise myself. For me, I think AP is sufficient for more daily duties. For me to subscribe, I think I'd pay at most $25-50/mo and that would solely be for auto-lane change, which I find it hard to stomach since it's not a huge deal to disable and reengage AP. I do...

FSD take rate after free trial 2%

Consumers are not buying FSD. Tesla has raised prices in the past as a FOMO tactic, but in the end they ended up lowering the price. $8k is a lot of money!

I started with TeslaFi and was happy with it until we picked up another Tesla. Couldn't justify paying for the extra car so I switched to the Tessie lifetime. Been very happy so far.

Bouncing clunk type noise after Koni Special Active Install

Bouncing clunk type noise after Koni Special Active Install

Spring looks OK from those pics! I ask about the fluid noise because the fluid noise has been reported with some aftermarket suspension installs. I can sometimes hear it with my Ohlins. Hard to tell without hearing it. You can always use YouTube to dump videos!

Will tesla service fix steering wheel alignment

Replacing the rear wheel wouldn't affect the steering. Why did you replace it? Did you hit something? If so, that could throw your toe out in front which could result in a weird steering wheel

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

Unless somebody has a lot of training, it won't. Cars are set to understeer from the factory because it's safer for untrained drivers. And emergency lane change might push, but it'll still change lanes. Totally agree that everybody should attend a basic car control clinic and learn how their...

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

There's no downside to tire rotations. No idea what's going on overseas though, so I can't speak to that.
  39. ngng

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

He's talking about setting up a car for handling at the performance limit. Nobody should be finding this limit on the street. The real world effect for most owners is just the annoyance of not being able to rotate wheels.

Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

You can sell new 21s for about 2k and put that towards a set of aftermarket wheels. You're paying a premium for overpriced TSportline wheels.

Range loss is a few % difference. It does make noise, sometimes it's more than the tires other times it a lot louder
