Best child seats for Model Y (Australia)

Hoping some Model Y owners can help. My niece owns a small car and has a little girl about 1 years old now. She and her husband intend to have at least one more but that will mean a bigger car. Uncle Mark is trying to steer them towards a second hand Model Y but he can’t answer any questions...

Is that the forward facing camera or the reversing camera? If it’s the reversing camera it may be the boot harness failing. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/threads/model-3-the-model-3-trunk-harness-recall.252196/

Tesla still doesn't know about the Rozelle Interchange

I went through the Rozelle interchange last night and the tunnels are on the map, dashed lines, but the turn by turn directions didn’t recognise that we were in the tunnel and would give surface road directions which make it more confusing than without directions.

Tesla Software Updates for Model 3 New Zealand

I had a similar issue when Tesla upgraded my MCU. They replaced the SIM and reception improved substantially.

    3G Phase Out

My MCU1 was on its last legs and needed regular almost daily resets to maintain operation. I logged a request about the chip recall and Tesla responded with, “Sure we’ll replace the memory chip, but it will still not resolve the loss of connectivity when 3G is retired”. That’s when I decided to...

    Australian Model Y Waiting Room

It’s a bit of a throwback to when we received Model S, X and the first Model 3s from the USA factory in Freemont California. The accuracy of fit and finish has never been world leading from that factory and 2019 when the first Model 3s arrived in Australia was at the tail end of production ramp...

MCU2 Upgrade and no AM or FM radio

I finally bit the bullet in February and had the MCU1 upgraded to MCU2 as the original MCU was becoming very slow and needed multiple resets on occasion to get it to function. Being one of the oldest Model S in Australia it needed additional hardware which brought the cost to $2,780. When I...

Delivery timelines for Model 3 performance.

Yes, I believe Dubai cars are made in Shanghai so the trip will be of a similar length to cars destined for Australia. They may also be offloaded at Singapore like cars destined for Perth Western Australia. Have a read of this thread and you may pick up some useful information to help you...

Kerbside pole-mounted chargers are now a thing

Almost didn’t comment as I anticipated a response like this. I am in favour of a less car centric city too and support many of the initiatives like bike lans and better public transport, it’s a complex subject. However my partner is an architect and specialised in multi dwelling buildings...

Kerbside pole-mounted chargers are now a thing

Not really a surprise at all, City of Sydney Council is fairly anti-Car of any type. They want you to take public transport, or ride your bike. This is fine if you’re going somewhere within Council area but more problematic for longer trips but happen to live in the Council area.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It’s Prince’s Highway with the apostrophe removed. Named after Prince Edward, later King Edward VIII, later after abdicating Duke of Windsor. Come to think of it, now that I know that fact, I think it needs a new name.

Consindering importing a Japanese Tesla to The Bahamas, What works, what doesn't? Due to them being RHD and having the same charging standard.

Will the car receive software updates? The car can receive updates over WiFi so I don’t see any reason why not. However the maps and navigation are locked to the home country so would not be functional. Do the maps work on US cars though, possibly not. Will the car infotainment language be...

    Delivery shenanigans.

Don’t doubt your experience. I too live in a cool environment, living in the Southern Highlands of NSW. I’m not defending Teslas position, but I also think the inspector is being unreasonable. But you live in the environment not me. Despite being very popular amongst the Uber crowd in Sydney...

Kia EV6 GT Line AWD compared to my Tesla Model Y LR

Yes they do, only it’s not as featured as the iOS app. For example there’s no ‘Play Next’ feature on Tesla version of the app and you can’t pre download podcasts either. Both would be very useful to avoid having to touch the screen whilst driving.

I think 250Kw relates to the capacity of the charger, not sure what the max charge rate for Model 3 (LFP) but others may know. Initial state of charge, the temperature of the battery, ambient temperature, capacity of the site and number of other cars charging at the site can all make a...

The battery location on earlier Model S is different to the later models shown in the video. It’s somewhat harder to remove and replace as it’s is buried further back adjacent to the firewall. Superchargers in Australia

Unpopular opinion: I think the last industry we should be relying on to build out public DC charging is the Fossil Fuel Industry. I’m not even all that comfortable with Evie which is partially owned by a coal Barron Trevor St Baker. They will make sure it’s never ‘too’ successful to threaten...

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

I keep my cars for an average of about 12 years so intend to keep it for a while longer. If I have to replace the battery I will just add another couple of years beyond to make up for the cost of the replacement. I’m at 250,000Km (circa 150,000 miles) but the car is holding up very well both...

LFP battery - how often is too often to charge?

I have charged my original NMC battery from about 40% to 90% with infrequent top ups to 100%, perhaps every 3 to 4 months depending upon need. It’s only been below about 30% a few dozen times, so after 8.5 years I’m getting about 12% degradation. From my experience you can over think the top end...
