Retrofit to matrix (global) headlights?

Looks like I’m getting a 2023 plaid without matrix. I have the lights and eBay adapters in my cart.

Do I pay someone to do the remote coding? What’s the cost?

Or pay for a 1 day subscription to toolbox? Never used it before.

I have a newer MacBook Pro and windows laptop. MacBook does not have Ethernet. Need to double check the windows laptop but I don’t think it does either. Can I use a usbc to Ethernet adapter? Or is there something else I need to get my car connected to the Ethernet port?

Just to confirm these are not matrix correct? The car was registered to the 1st owner in June 2023. I dont see a projector in the housing.

Bought a different car yesterday but no Matrix so im going to order a set.

These are matrix right? I sent him a message to confirm. Has anyone made an offer? I saw some $600 but it seems super low compared to what hes asking.

Not sure about the $600 ones since I feel those might have some tabs broken off. I made an offer when I got mine but the seller has a minimum acceptance threshold and didn't take much less than posted price.

Zapaska is the known seller most of us purchased matrix lights. I purchased from him twice and recommended him a dozen times.

I offered him a lower price for the X matrix as I had previously purchased S matrix at a higher price. He agreed to lower by $100 😉

For everyone that has done the upgrade is it worth the $1,000 or so? My previous car was a YP with matrix and the lights were great, especially the high beams. I haven't driven the XP at night yet so I haven't compared the standard lights to the matrix, but I plan to tonight. I dont have an x with matrix to compare it too though. I found a former tesla tech locally that is going to do the install and programming for me. Ive taken apart my Y and a previous 3 many times but it would be nice to have an actual tech do the work haha.

Huge difference. I did matrix on my msp and mxp 😉

They are better. The high beams will be the same as your MYP. Low beams are also projector unlike the Model 3/Y, so a little bit better there.

Whether or not it's worth it depends on how much you drive at night and whether or not there's much street lighting on your usual routes.

I want to ask one additional question, when you retrofit the headlights and you change the configuration file what happens with the warranty of the car? I mean the warranty for the whole car not the headlights itself. And can you visit the office Tesla service center for other inquiries?

It’s their headlight and their config :) the only thing not theirs is the plug adapter

I’ve brought my mxp in few times since having the matrix update. Even if they read your config file and saw the updating settings, they probably wouldn’t know if your car came like that or was added. Unless your car has headlight issues, they probably would never know you updated the lights

Magnus Moss Act says they can't deny you warranty on the whole car. Only the parts that aren't OEM, which almost all of the parts and coding are OEM, just not an approved retrofit.

So it appears the ability to change the headlamps has been added to the tbx-external role in toolbox. So in theory you could just buy the 1 day subscription or share a month or year subscription instead of paying a 3rd party. Changes other than the ones listed below would still require other means

Code:
"tbx-external":["coolantpumptype","ecallenabled","forwardradarhw","headlamps","packperformancedeviation","powerliftgatetype","steeringcolumnmotortype","supermanifoldtype","towpackage","tpmstype","twelvevbatterytype"]
I went through all 12 pages here but couldnt find the service shel commands to use . MY headlights are in and like a genius, I installed them before testing...

Help me with the service commands please? My toolbox 3 access and connection to the car are just great.
