Bollinger Motors has announced plans for an all-electric B2 Pickup Truck that sports dual motors, all-wheel drive, hydro-pneumatic suspension, in-wheel portal gear hubs, 120 kWh battery pack, front trunk space, and a patented pass-through door for transporting long items.
The truck is based on the company’s B1 sport utility vehicle and aims to offer more cargo options. The bed is 4’ 1” wide by 5’ 9” long. With the internal cab tailgate down, the pickup can carry full 4′ x 8′ sheets of plywood. The rear glass also opens up like the B1, allowing storage to the top of the cab, accommodating 72 sheets of 1/2” plywood. It’s a class 3 work truck with a hauling capacity of 5000 lbs.
“The renderings of our new B2 are based on the CAD data we’ll use to prototype in early 2019,” the company said on it’s website. “The fully working 4-door B1 and B2 test vehicles will then be put through their paces. We’ll collect that data to further engineer our pre-production prototypes.”
Bollinger partnered with Optimal, Inc. of Plymouth, MI earlier this year to “help bring the Bollinger B1 all-electric, all-wheel-drive Sport Utility Truck to production.” Production on the B1 is scheduled to begin in 2019. The B2 will be manufactured on the same assembly line in 2020.
