SpaceX Set for Starhopper Test After Electrical Fix

SpaceX scrubbed Monday a launch of its Starhopper prototype launch vehicle because of an electrical issue.

The flight was called off less than a second before takeoff. Chief Executive Elon Musk tweeted that the igniters that spark the rocket’s engine had a wiring problem.

SpaceX plans to try again Tuesday.

Starhopper is a project for SpaceX to test technology that will ultimately be incorporated into its Starship rocket, which will be designed to transport 100 people and 150 tons of cargo to Mars.

Starhopper will attempt again Tuesday to achieve a flight of about 500 feet into the air before landing back on its launchpad in South Texas. The launch is scheduled for between 5 p.m. and 5:15 p.m. CT.
