Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
One problem I have with FSD is that on local roads (not highways), it puts the turn signal on far too soon. Like it will drive straight through an intersection with my turn signal on because it's turning 1 block past the intersection.
Another example: other drivers think I'm turning into...
My poll and post title really should have been "Are you getting close to the advertised range?" - that's what I really wanted to know. Being satisfied with the car is an entirely different issue, and so very subjective. Sorry for not being clearer in my question.
I've had the car a little over 2 years. This is my only vehicle, and 150 miles is the most I've driven in one day. I guess I don't get around much. ;)
I'm assuming that if I got the range that I do on 150 miles, that I'd get about the same on the next 150 - if I was doing a 300 mile drive.
I know that many people complain that they don't get anywhere near the range that Tesla claims. 150 miles is the longest trip I've taken so far in my MYLR, and whenever I do a trip like this, I seem to get pretty close to the 310 mile estimated range - sometimes less, sometimes more, but never...
I've noticed that too. I thought that if I put the right turn signal on, that it would move the lane on the right, but it shuts my turn signal off and stays in the left lane.
When going around curves, FSD seems to hug the inside line of the curve too much. With standard AP, it seemed to hug the outside line of the curve, i.e. the center line.
Yesterday when driving on a fairly straight road, my car drifted over the center double yellow line for some reason. The...
I tried it out yesterday for the very first time. I drove mostly on a 2 lane 45 mph country road, a bit on a not very busy 4 lane divided highway, and a little bit in a small town.
My initial impression was WOW, it's absolutely amazing that it can drive this well!
That said, there were a few...
That would be nice. And I do the same thing - manual because I hate when auto feels like it's blowing cool air in winter. But I'll switch to auto for a while if windows start fogging up inside.
I think what you are seeing is normal behavior in cold weather. From the manual: "In cold temperatures, Model Y automatically makes a slight adjustment to the position of the windows to make it easier to open doors."...
That sounds like old advice. I think it was an old problem that Tesla fixed by automatically running the fan for a while when it needs to dry out the HVAC system.
But if you really want to run the fan only:
- take HVAC out of "Auto"
- turn off AC
- set the desired temperature to something...
I agree with the replies so far, but am wondering what you are trying to accomplish - warm the cabin for comfort , or something else?
I'll warm the cabin up on really cold mornings, whether it's plugged in or not - I don't think it uses that much power for 5 or 10 minutes of warming. I don't...
The 12 volt battery is charged by the car's main (big) battery. Since your car was still alive in the morning, I don't think there's anything to worry about.
I change the following distance by tilting the right scroll wheel left or right. I think you have to be in cruise control to that, but you don't need to be closely following another vehicle. It always remembers what I set it to, so I've never even thought of looking for an option in settings.
Similarly, in some recent update, tilting the left scroll-wheel right / left no longer goes to my next / previous favorite FM radio station. Instead, it jut goes to the next station that it can tune to. Annoying. Now I have to bring up a list of radio stations on the touchscreen and select a...
In my car, it only seems to show traffic lights and stop signs a short distance ahead on my route. If I browse around the map, it's not showing me lights and signs that are not on my route. Also, it stop showing me any lights and signs that I just passed. This is fine with me.
I got the update 2 days ago and took it for a long drive yesterday.
One improvement I noticed in AP: when your lane suddenly widens because your lane merged with another, the car no longer swerves into the "new" middle of the lane. It now picks a nice line or travel, pretty much what I would...
I've had something similar happen a couple of times - my phone app showed software download in progress, but the car showed nothing. Nothing I tried would clear it, but it eventually resolved its self - either the phone stopped showing a download, or the car did start doing a download - I...
If you use the voice command "switch to USB", it will resume playing from where you left off. Using the touchscreen to select USB doesn't remember the last position. But I agree - the software should be fixed!
In the Climate Control screen, I'd like a Heat On/Off button right next the button that turns AC On/Off. This would be an easier way of having the fans blow without heating or cooling.
Until Tesla builds this functionality into their own software, you can use this:
Tesla Traffic Incidents and Information <-bookmark this on your Tesla's browser and it gives you some Waze functionality while you are driving. Not great, but it will give you better traffic and hazard information.
I like.
While I do like my Model Y as it is, I would love to have some physical buttons too - for those times when I don't want to take my eyes off the road to use the touchscreen, or for those times when voice commands aren't doing what I say to do.
I have a MYLR and I planned to try the Acceleration Boost at some point. A year an half later, I've never felt the need to try the Boost and now I drive mostly in Chill mode and it's still plenty fast. A MYP would have been wasted on me. I guess I'm the odd man out in this thread!
The side cameras have color filters that are best suited for image processing, that is, for the car to recognize objects better. They weren't really intended for the driver to see - displaying the side camera when the turn signal is used was added in a pretty recent software update. (I guess...
I always thought it was a strange decision to have lane departure warning shut its self off after it's warned you a few times. It happens to me cause I cross over some lane markings to avoid potholes, lawn service trucks blocking a lane, etc, etc. But what if I was impaired and really...
Lifetime average is 219. Original tires with almost 16,000 miles on them.
Much of my driving is on 45-55 mph country roads, but some interstate highway driving at 65-75 mph
I had the car in standard mode until maybe 2000 miles ago when I finally tried chill and I kind of like that better so...
Tesla Favorites streaming works fine for me.
Where JoeSchmoe88 suggests giving a few songs a thumbs up, I think he means thumbs up some songs on other streaming channels, not on Tesla Favorites, and then maybe Tesla Favorites might show you something. I have no idea if that would work but it's...
Sounds like you're seeing the new(ish) cards which display 1) media player, 2) odometers, 3) tire pressure.
You can swipe left or right to switch between the 3 cards.
On my Android phone, that setting is under Settings -> Device Care -> Battery -> More Battery Settings -> Protect Battery <- this limits max charge to 85%
