The few times Tesla has addressed battery degradation, they have simply lied and dismissed it.

stop looking at the range indicator at 100%. If your car had 10-20% degradation you wouldn’t even notice unless you frequently drive insanely long distances. Even then it doesn’t really matter apart from a few minutes more at the supercharger. Set it to % and forget about it.

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

Can you elaborate? I have been following this thread since I purchased my car just over 2 years ago. To my knowledge there aren't too many outliers when it comes to age vs degradation. I'm sitting around 5% and I believe most others are in that vicinity. From my own research across other sites...

Indeed. Or maybe LFP is just that good :)

Model 3 SR+ LFP Battery Range, Degradation, etc Discussion

All there is right now are the lab tests and what you see on tesla logger (doesn’t indicate charging habits). From what I can tell here, most cars seem to be reducing at the same rate regardless of charging habits. This has lead to the suspicion by some that the EPA range display is pre...

I've enagaged lawyers in an attempt to recover FSD cost (Australian owner)

I am surprised that the ACCC has not cracked down on this. FSD is coming, evidently, judging by what is currently available in the USA - however depending on our regulators this could be years further down the track. Furthermore, it will likely be a subscription model when it is released. I...

    Superchargers in Australia

Likewise, I'd rather existing sites are expanded rather than new sites added (where possible, of course). For example, Heatherbrae instead of Raymond Terrance.

How do you make the FSD visualisation full screen?

    Superchargers in Australia

I wonder if the SC network up to Cairns will be finished. I believe these projects were in the pipeline already, so hopefully they will continue.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

It’s funny, I’m usually the last to get the updates but this time I was early on. Nice for a change :)

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Best update in a long time! I love the new UI, wiper adjustment via the scroll wheels, adaptive high beams improvements and nav enhancements. The larger speedometer is also welcome. Auto wipers seem better, used it in rain and it was ok. No dry wipes yet, but I am sure they are coming lol. I...

    Superchargers in Australia

I did read see the tweet. As long as they keep expanding, I am happy :) But yes other charging providers need to come to the party as well, although I never touch third party chargers if a Tesla is nearby due to the so often poor reliability.
  12. karlos22

    Superchargers in Australia

Worrying for Australia, we desperately need more stalls over here especially with the recent surge in Tesla sales. If they don't keep building new sites or adding stalls at a high rate, I wouldn't bother driving my Tesla anywhere on the east coast motorways during the holidays.
  13. karlos22

Did Tesla really lay off their entire Supercharger staff

Is this world wide or USA only? We desperately need more chargers in Australia!
  14. karlos22

Arrive with minimum % battery - Navigation

no idea, sometimes it is 10% or 15%. It must depend on the supercharger availability nearby amongst other things?

Tesla 3 Highland Nova wheels without trim

They should have just made them in 20” and used them on the performance model. I think they look great :)

    An interesting journey last night

In theory it should at least try and prevent you from running out of charge but I have never tested that theory in anger haha.
  17. karlos22

    An interesting journey last night

Interestingly I have had the opposite experience, since owning a Tesla i drive about twice the amount of miles I used to. It is also worth noting that 0% is not always 0%. The car might drive another 10 or 20 miles beyond that, but I wouldn’t plan on it. Always good to have in your back pocket...

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

Interesting, definitely hasn’t been the case for my 2022 model 3 so I wonder if there is a difference somewhere. Although it was so bad for a while I am now scared to use it. I always keep a wet cloth and squeegee in the frunk on long drivers for the inevitable dry wipe on a bug filled...

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

I do CBR BNE many times per year, we stay in Newcastle especially if we leave Canberra late in the day. Also a RWD (20” wheels so terrible efficiency lol), quick charge in Campbelltown if you leave Canberra with a full charge and then charge at the hotel in Newcastle while you sleep (gateway inn...

Long Term Battery Costs, Fears, and Serviceability

Why would a battery need to be replaced due to degradation? Isn’t the average degradation for a 10 year old Tesla something like 10%? With LFP this becomes even less of a problem. By the time the battery is so degraded that you will notice the car will be destined for the scrap yard.

    Glitchy Touchscreen

I had my touch screen replaced under warranty as it wouldn’t respond to inputs. Service tech said it’s rare but does happen occasionally.
  22. karlos22

Car location on Map is off by few meters

Happens to me quite often coming out of the basement car park but always fixes itself quite quickly. Suggest a service request in your case as that’s not normal. Tesla might be able to remote diagnose.

2013 Model S Large drive unit (LDU) repaired

Yikes. I’ve seen a few early gen model S for sale around here at bargain prices and while I was very tempted, I was afraid of stuff like this. Glad to hear it worked out.

Great Aussie EV Road trips - Live to drive - Drive to Live

I did a huge road trip in Jan this year, Canberra to brisbane, Warrnambool via the great ocean road and then back to Canberra. The whole trip was about 5000km from memory. Apart from charging during the Xmas peak it was fine, didn’t have to wait anywhere. Brisbane to sydney during Xmas required...

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

I will have to replace my Pirelli P zero's in about 5-10k mi (won't take long as I drive a lot). Any recommendations for a new tire? No need for winter tires here, summer all year around. I need 235/35 R20 92Y. Thought about the PS4's but I would actually like something with more mileage and...

    Auto Wipers

I have had mine set to manual since I bought the car so generally it doesn’t bother me too much, until they forced auto wipers with TACC/Autopilot! The dry wiping is enough to make one insane. At least with TACC you can switch them back to manual but what a pain to do so, not to mention it...

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

I have a similar problem that my outer is wearing much faster than the middle. Did a rotate and balance at Tesla and now upped to 45psi to hopefully slow the middle wear a bit. Still 5.5mm in the middle and 3.2 on the outer at 22k mi on my pirelli p zeros (20”). Running at 46 has increased...

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

Yep, completely agree with this. It’s a logical first step for Tesla and robo taxis. Could be implemented very quickly too.
  32. karlos22

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

I like the idea as someone else posted here, dedicated robo taxi (maybe a model 2) which comes with FSD but needs a human driver for supervision. Steering wheel is removable. Prob lease the car directly from Tesla or some sort of ride share deal where you get the car cheaper but Tesla takes a cut.
  33. karlos22

Make your robotaxi predictions for the 8/8 reveal

I’m all for robotaxis but the auto wipers on my model 3 don’t even work properly after how many years now?
  34. karlos22

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

Probably not. It’s actually very difficult to truly read degradation, which raises the question, is it even important?
  35. karlos22

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

I argued that and lost :) Bjorn Nyland did a video on it. TLDR is that you need to drive the car from 100 til dead to find out for sure.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

damn, was hoping for the matrix headlights :(
  37. karlos22

The quest for the ultimate efficiency.

You should ask about this in the battery degradation thread. Everyone is reading degradation from the 100% range value.

    Tesla Software updates - Australia

Same, still on 2.7 haha. Updates are few and far between these days, used to get them monthly at least!

Safety aside it will also damage your car with stone chips! This car is a magnet for them.

    Auto Wipers

Elon should offer $1m reward to the first person who can fix the code :)
  41. karlos22

    Auto Wipers

Auto wipers in this car are a joke. 2 years into ownership and it is getting worse! Whatever Tesla did during the last update causes them to activate in dry conditions and all sorts of random intervals. I was sitting behind a model 3 on the freeway the other day and could see their wipers...

    Minor scuff damage on bumper

About 1k approx to respray the rear. My parents just had theirs done and I’m about to have the front done. Surprised the car did that, though I shouldn’t be.

    Supercharger - Cairns, Qld

Awesome. We have driven Brisbane to Warrnambool via the great ocean road, we’d love to do cairns next but I am not keen on using the QLD electric highway. Once the SC are in we will drive up for sure.
  44. karlos22

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Poor explanation on my behalf, however I posted the tread depths. the outer tread is wearing faster than the inner. Not the"edges". No issues with alignment, balance just done and I'm at 45psi now, so will see if it makes a difference. Will try and get a pic later. I have done 35k on these...
  45. karlos22

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

Ok I checked. Teslas measurements were correct, tires are definitely wearing faster on the outside, all 4 wheels evenly. Upped the pressure to 45, definitely more firm ride now :D let’s see if it makes a difference in 10km, I’ll be doing a lot of driving next few months.

Solo Roadtrip from San Diego to Vancouver (Canada) in a 2022 Tesla Model 3 Long Range

Fantastic, made for great reading, thank you. As an Australian I am very jealous. Our charging network is horrendous compared to the USA… max 12 stalls at very few locations. But still, I love my Tesla and would never go back :)
  47. karlos22

3.5 year MYLR update 179.7k miles

Makes sense, I have seen other NCA batteries hit 80% at 300-350k miles. Even then the range is still usable. Maybe next time consider the LFP if the range is enough, you will be able to do 1 million miles!
  48. karlos22

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

The cars TPMS value always matches my air pump to within 1 psi. I guess I could measure the depth myself….
  49. karlos22

what PSI do you inflate your tires to

    It was measured by Tesla.
