Cracked roof, any chance it's covered under warranty?

I discovered my 23 MYLR roof is cracked. Three questions: Is there any safety risk if I continue driving this for a while (see below)? Any chance this is covered under Tesla's warranty or should I just move ahead with an insurance claim with AAA? Is it important/essential to get this repaired by...

First question was state. Not offered in California. Couldn’t you have told me that right away rather than making me answer all the other questions???

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

(Caveat: This is not entirely off topic, but certainly tangential.) This guy seems to be quite enthusiastic about V12 and beyond: https://www.torquenews.com/14335/california-gold-rush-coming-used-tesla-vehicles-even-2018-model-3-going-become-extremely

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I'll reboot and recalibrate. Thanks for the suggestion. I've been on teslamotorsclub since shortly after getting the car a year ago. After getting the free trial and giving it a try, I went looking for a thread on the latest FSD and landed here. It's a busy thread right now! I don't expect I'll...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

Speaking of potholes, I forgot to mention that it ran over the end of a good-sized stick on the left side of my lane. It was maybe 2-3 inches in diameter--not small! It went flying when left front tire hit it. I thought it was going to just barely miss it so I didn't intervene but I should have...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

I just tried out the latest free-trial version, for entertainment value more than anything else. If this is too long to read, the summary is: drove 3 small routes totaling maybe 10 or 15 miles, with roughly half a dozen "oops" moments including at least 2 times it deactivated itself for reasons...

FSD v12.x (end to end AI)

My one year old MYLR updated to 2024.3.6 last night. This morning I got an email saying my FSD free trial starts now. Too bad I’ll be out of town and away from the car for half of the 30 days. Also I’ll be driving coast to coast in early May but it stops 4/30.

Sorry if this is answered elsewhere but I haven't stumbled upon it. Can a US buyer get a Tesla with LFP battery now, either a model 3 or model Y? Thanks.

Model Y prices to increase March 1, 2024?

The Refer and Earn portion of my app is telling me that Model Y prices will increase March 1st. Is there any more information about this available? I don't suppose this is a refresh comparable to the Model 3 highlander? If not it seems like a weird time to be increasing prices, but what do I...

Money well spent: tire repair kit

I got a flat tire on interstate 80 out in the middle of nowhere in Wyoming. Pressure dropped from 42 to 10 in about 2 minutes. Luckily the leak was easy to find. I fixed it in about 20 minutes with a $20 tire repair kit and a $35 inflator from Amazon. I’m really glad I bought them when I bought...

Trip report: Santa Cruz, CA to Lovell, ME

Thanks! We're on Kezar Lake which rose several feet after heavy rains. Lots of road damage and some flooded houses and camps. It came within a few feet of our house but it had started to recede by the time we got here. It's nearly back to normal for this season after having dropped 3ft or more...

Trip report: Santa Cruz, CA to Lovell, ME

I drove from California to Maine earlier this month in a MYLR, just me and the dog. I don’t know exactly how many miles, how many hours, how many Kwh, how many times I stopped to charge, how much time I spent charging, how much it all cost, or how much carbon I saved. I just know that I got here...

Unable to patch Goodyear Eagle F1 T0

Similar issues here with the Goodyear Eagle F1. Slow leak due to screw. Plugged and patched by small chain tire shop but it continued to leak slowly. Repatched by a different local tire shop but when that didn’t work he “jammed a better plug in there” and that seems to be holding. He also took...

    Got any road trip advice?

For the life of me I can't figure out how to do this in the iPhone app. Under "Location" I assume? When I hit the little "Directions" arrow in the corner it just takes me to Apple Maps.

    Got any road trip advice?

Thanks for the reply. At first I didn't understand this sentence, but then I figured it out. For the benefit of other simpletons like me: volts x amps = watts, 1000 watts = 1 kilowatt (kW) 400 volts (approximate value for Tesla model 3 or Y) x 500 amps (approximate CCS limit) = 200,000 watts =...

    Got any road trip advice?

CCS adapters I’m finding online are limited to 150<whatever these units are>. Are there adapters that permit even faster charging? 350 is mentioned above. Can my car even support that? Maybe I should be asking: what’s a good source for newbies to read about EV charging on the road? Thanks for...

    Got any road trip advice?

In a couple weeks I'll be taking a roughly 3200 mile trip in my Model Y LR, driving from Santa Cruz, CA to Lovell, ME. I'm wondering if anyone has any tips or advice for me. More details: The car will be packed pretty full including me and a dog, and we'll do it in 7 days of driving. Five days...

    Tesla App sucks!

This Tesla app is driving me nuts. It's like they hired good graphic designers but crappy UI/software engineers. Today's dilemma: trying to set my home charging rates. If I let it look up the rate plan (PG&E EV2-A) it gets the schedule right (season, hours) but the per kwh charges wrong. If I...

MODEL 3 No LTE Connection [car outside of delivered country]

Should I get the 20" induction wheels if it's a free upgrade?

There are aftermarket 19" rims out there that look very much like the Inductions or the Uberturbines (tsportline, replika r241). You can get them in 8.5" width too, which will still fit the same OEM 19" tires (Continentals) but the tire sidewalls will (I'm told) protect the narrower rims to a...

Why are inventory cars only able to be registered in certain states?

That's consistent with what I was told when I inquired about a similar situation. We were thinking of buying a (non-Tesla) car in Maine where we have a vacation home and then re-registering a few months later in California. I was concerned about double-taxation, but we were told by CA DMV that...

Lost LTE, brand new Model Y

I just realized I should test basic navigation since that is supposed to work even without premium connectivity, so if it's not working then truly the car has no connectivity at all. Lost LTE, brand new Model Y

Brand new model Y just a few days old. Has lost LTE connectivity. First lost it while car was parked at home. Doesn’t seem to matter where I go. I don’t think this is a dead zone situation. Buy from existing inventory and register in Maine?

Thanks a lot for your reply. Actual experience is priceless! Actually, since my original post I've found that existing inventory cars in NJ can be registered in ME (among other states), but knowing it can be handled in NY too is useful to me.

Why are inventory cars only able to be registered in certain states?

(Note: I couldn't find an appropriate forum for this, so I chose the Tesla Inc forum as the best I could come up with.) When you see a car in Tesla inventory in another state, it invariably says "This car can only be registered in <a list of nearby states>". Why is that? Is this a restriction...

Buy from existing inventory and register in Maine?

Thanks for the reply, but the cars listed in inventory in OH say "This car can only be registered in IN, KY, MI, OH, WV," so it's clear up front that a car acquired in Ohio can be registered in Kentucky. In contrast, I haven't found any delivery state that includes Maine (ME) among the states...

6000+ miles/year of supercharging -- how bad for the battery?

Thanks for the reply. I guess I’ll find out the truth soon enough because last night’s price cuts pushed us right off the fence—we pulled the trigger and ordered a Model Y LR from local inventory. It also didn’t hurt that my demo ride yesterday was super fun, and our Model 3 owning neighbors...

6000+ miles/year of supercharging -- how bad for the battery?

Newbie here. We're nearly ready to pull the trigger on a Model Y long range. We live 6 months each year in Maine and 6 months in California, so we cross the country 2x/year (6000 miles/year), using superchargers of course. The rest of the time, probably another 10k miles/year, would be primarily...
