It’s an option, but they might need a very good reason for rejecting VINs cause they will anticipate some people doing this?

Resale value will always be higher on a 2024 VIN than a 2023, even if it’s the same car. It will be more desirable from a legacy car owner perspective and overall resale value because of that.

I saw forums where people got their 2023 VINs on October 4th last year.

Based off all the forums I’ve seen, yes, and Y was a few days later. X was first, not sure if it will be same date this year

Last year, the last 2022 Model X was assigned on October 3rd, October 4th was 2023

There’s a Frunk and also a second trunk underneath in the back, so plenty of space. Also, most of the time, my family will only need the 4 chairs, so back row will be down except for when we need it with family visiting and kids friends in the car. 6 just feels better, everyone gets their own...

I don’t think there will be any updates. Tesla doesn’t make updates based on year, just whenever they want lol

For me, it’s resale value, nothing to do with bragging rights or anything. It’s a fact that 1 model year newer car, even with no changes, will have higher resale value.

Last year, 2023 VINs started on October 4th. I’m hoping it’s the same this year. I am awaiting a VIN for my MXP that I ordered on 9/1. EDD currently Oct 6-Nov 10!

I have a feeling they are waiting till October for most of the Plaid builds so that the fresh batch has all 2024 VINs.

I think the opposite. They are prioritizing base model X's so that people can take the tax incentive for 2023 tax year. Plaids have been pushed out and barely any have been delivered since the price drop in September

9/22 build date. Very interesting. At this point, I hope I get an October build date with a 2024 VIN. Might be worth rejecting first vin if it’s 2023 tbh

Last week? Has anyone gotten a Plaid VIN already? Every forum I have seen no one has gotten one. Seems like they are saving the new "Cheap" plaids to be 2024 vins to me 🤤

I really hope you are right. The wait will be well worth it if we end up getting 2024 VINs and deliveries in early October for our early September Plaid order. Fingers crossed! 🤞
