Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

This post just popped up from a Model 3 owner on a FB group I follow: "Just back from doing the North Coast 500. No range anxiety. Plenty of chargers, albeit needed planning to know where you’re heading. Car don’t miss a beat. A friend in a petrol car had more range anxiety than me at one...

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

Oh I've got a couple of horror stories when it comes to charging at places which were supposed to have working chargers, but they both happened relatively early on in my EV-owning timeline and you live and learn. I did. I also have plenty of stories I could tell you of almost running out of...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

As I said at the end "could this have been done better? I don't know". I haven't been to that site but in similar mall-based sites I've had similar experiences, especially when it comes to finding the chargers in the first place. I realise utilization is a moving target, but other concerns like...

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

Maybe you're not the type who likes to plan where they're going to stay and visit on holiday? Fair enough, but for me I like to know where I'm staying, what the food's like and take in some 'special places' I've researched and booked to make sure I can get in there. These days, that also may...

Here's a photo of a UK SuC site in a big city (Bristol) which appeared on FB this morning. It's just been opened up to non-Teslas Some of the comments: "That's what happens when you fire all the staff" "Seriously though they’re under used. Was like that last time I went there" "they're well...

Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Have you considered that the new product and supercharger teams may have lost direction and that's why swift and decisive action had to be taken instead of spending months trying to rectify it (if it was rectifiable). Could this be similar to a building project where you've gotten to a stage...

Did Tesla design cars to be able to take a range extender just incase?

You either want to be part of the solution or stay part of the problem. The choice is yours for now. If you want to do a driving tour of the Highlands of Scotland in an EV and have range anxiety, you can simply sit down before you go and plan your route/stopovers to make charging part of the...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

The suspension bushes which are one of the first things to go on a Model 3 take most punishment during cornering and braking, not accelerating. More stress might be put on the drivetrain but I expect there's overhead built into that especially after 5 years+ of the existing model being out there...

Front suspension creak when turning but Tesla says normal

Squeaking issues are same as Model 3/Y. Creaking when turning the wheel is usually the upper control arm, when going over bumps and turning it's usually a lower, but if a lower it can be due to a worn or torn rubber bush so greasing will be a temporary solution.

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

I think Russia just got lucky with this one, whatever was on the back of the trucks. The story is a drone op spotted them and called in a missile strike. Questions remaining unanswered are: 1. Where was the rest of the Battery/crew? It certainly wasn't in the immediate vicinity looking at the...

    Russia/Ukraine conflict

The loss, if it was part of a Patriot Battery, is nowhere near $1B or even the $400M figure which some sources are quoting. The video and frame grabs from the attack show 2 MAN trucks and a small support vehicle. Ukraine uses the same MAN trucks for other purposes so it's not 100% certain they...

Tesla Model 3 Front Upper Control Arms

A possibly explanation of different estimates is that they can replace arms singly or in pairs and for warranty claims they will probably try to replace only one, for cost reasons. For the front upper control arms you should check they are using the new redesigned parts (128832x) because they...

Model 3 Highland Performance/Plaid Speculation [Car announced 04.23.2024]

Can't say I've ever compared SA at -10 with -9, but at -10 on a dry track in some corners, such as off-camber, I can feel and hear the torque vectoring working away when actually I'd be happier to modulate the throttle. That's with the balance slider in the 50:50-30:70 range, which is the where...

In terms of Stability Assist, -10 was never fully off and we never really knew how 0 to +10 related to how the car behaved compared to with track mode off. Setting that slider was more or less guesswork based on how confident a driver you are. I doubt most drivers would be able to tell the...

    Accelerating when braking?

OK well I asked about software as I think the warning changed at some point recently, but I'm on 2024.8.9 and the current behaviour when both pedals are pressed is this: If you press the brake first and then press the accelerator as well, the car will move but the power is very much reduced...

    Accelerating when braking?

The auto wipers is not a critical safety feature. If it's not working to your liking, just put the wipers on manual, in the same way that if autopilot isn't working to your liking you can drive the car manually.

Did this comparison at a local fitter a couple of years ago. They look very similar but in the flesh you can see differences in overall width and rim protection. Model 3 Highland Steering Issues

The thing is, the ratio change in isolation may not be noticed by many, but an alignment change can make a car feel more or less responsive to small steering inputs, so that could have been what they felt more than the ratio change. And everything else would need to be equal - tyre type, tread...

It's the value calculated when you carry out the EPAS check or just drive for a while (after resetting it). Model 3 Highland Steering Issues

I've got 2-way adjustable Ohlins fitted to my M3P along with a lot of other suspension upgrades (i.e. solid bushes) so comfort isn't really the primary consideration there, but the main thing is the harshness and crashiness of the stock M3P suspension is eliminated, so although some might find...

    Model 3 Highland Steering Issues

    Model 3 Highland Steering Issues

That vibration issue has been reported on several new Highland models and the theory is it's something to do with the way the cars are tied down in the transport ships when they're coming from China causing the flat spots which balancing isn't going to sort. That's not going to be the cause of...
