Tesla's Supercharger Team was recently laid off. We discuss what this means for the company on today's TMC Podcast streaming live at 1PM PDT. You can watch on X or on YouTube where you can participate in the live chat.
I have given up on Tesla ever implementing CarPlay or Android Auto. A very simple augmentation would be to have a long press on the steering wheel voice button launch Apple’s Siri or the appropriate phone voice assistance. This would make it much easier to launch Audible or other apps without...
Wanted to start a thread for hidden/little known features and tips for the refreshed Model S. One of the nice things I discovered is that the front door pockets are perfectly crafted to hold 20-24 ounce metal water bottles freeing up the cup holders. I use the Contigo Autoseal stainless steel...

I love the ability to have the calendar app use the meeting location information as a destination for the navigation system. Unfortunately it often has additional information that confuses the navigation system. Things like name of the meeting room or suite location confuse the navigation. Is...
I know it is not an offered option, but if you could - would you? I am original Signature Model S owner and would never part with my little part of history, but have to admit that I'm a little envious of the new features. Plus, until 7.1 comes out, I will likely have a big reminder that I...
I understand the Auto Pilot features require a broad array of sensors and integration that were never envisioned when the Model S was originally released. Adaptive Cruise Control on the other hand was talked about a great deal even before the beta unveiling. I remember discussions at the...
When watching the Saleen Automotive Tesla’s Model S EV based FourSixteen video they made a big deal of removing 18lbs per corner by replacing the rotors with carbon fiber rotors. They also state that since this is "rotational" weight it is even more effective just saving 70lbs elsewhere...
One app that I would definitely use is a quick way to turn on climate control.
With the current iPhone app it takes more than a minute to launch the app, wait for the vehicle to wake up, connect and then select the "turn on" option from the climate control screen. I would love a "fire and...
I am making the trip from the Northern Virginia area to the Outerbank in NC. Since the VA Superchargers has yet to appear, I was hoping to find something faster than a 30A J1772 to add necessary range to get to our destination. Does anyone local to the area know if any of the available...
Message Access Profile (MAP)
Message Access Profile (MAP)[4] specification allows exchange of messages between devices. Mostly used for automotive handsfree use. The MAP profile can also be used for other uses that require the exchange of messages between two devices. The automotive...
I ordered the rear passenger mat from CarCoverPlanet since they sell the rear mat seperately. I am not nearly as knowlegable on carpet weights and such as some on this board, but the mat seems to be of high quality. The color is not an exact match to the original Tesla mats in some lights, but...
Whenever I go to Mom's house I need to raise the Model S to make it up the driveway without scraping the rear. Is it OK to leave the car in "Very High" mode when parked overnight or should it be lowered and reraised when departing?
I believe Tesla plans to have 100 sites deployed by end of 2014. If that is the case that leaves ~93 sites to be deployed over 24 months. They would need to have 4-5 sites each month if they were to do a somewhat linear deployment. Has anyone seen/heard of what the overall goals by quarter or...
I had V4.0 software an went to friends house. Arrived with 145 miles rated range. When leaving 16 hours later range had dropped to 102 miles rated range. Car was uncovered in the driveway overnight with cold temperatures and high winds. I have sleep mode enabled - so this is not the normal...
The review mirror on the Model S has an unusually large mount. It might just house the ambient light sensors, but thought it might have other functions (e.g future location for ACC or Lane Departure sensors). Anyone seen tech manuals or have any info?
I still don't have the option to install the latest software on my Model S. I have decent 3G connectivity in the garage so that should not be a limiting factor. I wonder what the sequencing model is?
There are only a few thousand in the field right now - how does this scale to the tens of...
While the openness of the console area is growing on me, the total lack of any enclosed storage space was really problematic. My Model S did not have the cubby and there is still have no word on when the redesigned cubby will be available (hopefully with a door!). No place for a pen...
I listen to Audible books through the Bluetooth connection to the Model S. I'm not sure where the Bluetooth receiver is in the car, but I have significant issues with the Bluetooth connection dropping and reconnecting. I have also seen strange "gaps" in XM and HD Radio connections - that do...
I have a NEMA 14-50 and am getting the HPWC. My Model S currently charges at a full 40 amps and 29-30 rated miles/hour. Generally, I plug in at night and, while the Model S could charge for 10+ hours, it unsually tops off in a couple of hours and shuts off. Tonight I'm doing a Max Range...
In my opinion the Model S looks much better without a front license plate.
There is an active motion in Virginia to remove the front license plate requirement for all non-comercial vehicles. It was continued into 2013 pending investigation by the Transportation Committee into objections from...
I plan to make the drive on Monday. Will do a max range charge and drive "gently". Trip is showing up as 240 miles and my rated range should be about 265 (will be my first max-range charge). Right now I am planning on stoping along the way to add a little range, but all I can find is 30A...
I was wondering what offers would be like for the stock 21" wheels with the summer max performance tires. Tesla sells this combination for $5200. It is a signature option that I probably wouldn't have gotten if down grading had been possible. Ideally, I'm interested in a straight sale - not a...
The link below is a 10 question survey for a "sample" venture project for a short graduate seminar. I would greatly appreciate anyone willing to spend 2-3 minutes required to give my team feedback. Thanks in advanced!

The latest blog had the following statement as well as a rainbow picture of colors. "Happy to announce that at our first two tour stops we will be showcasing ALL 10 COLORS of Model S. On top of that, we will have every available interior option and décor that you’ve been seeing in our Design...
The latest blog said the following about the My Tesla page:
"You can stay connected throughout the process via our updated MY TESLA dashboard. Access your own private dashboard at teslamotors.com and see exactly where your car stands at any point in the process. The updated Design Studio is a...
With ICE vehicles there is always a tradeoff with the performance versions of vehicles versus the standard (e.g. gas mileage, gearing comfort, ride stiffness). With the Model S having a variable air suspension, single speed transmission, and the same motor - are there any downsides? Does...
Overall, I think that the Model X did a good job of pulling design cues from the Model S. One curious point is the change in the front headlights accent lighting. They moved the accents from an over brow in the S to an under brow in the X.
Not sure if it says anything about future direction...
I've now had time to let the announced Model S Signature pricing sink in a bit. While I am a huge supporter of Tesla and what it is trying to accomplish with the Model-S, I am a bit disapointed that it is not more cost competative with the very cars that they have asked to be compared.
I...
