I'm sure this scared the crap out of that guy, but I couldn't help but laugh as it looks just like a pie in the face of that truck. Now you got me thinking about how I can install one of those on the bottom of my car with a release button...

If I had to guess, I'd say something more like some sort of air filter or something, or possibly something that had some styrofoam as part of it.

I don't have the time right now, but later or on Monday I'll try to grab some images from the original and see if we can get a better look. I do kinda want to know!

Michigan is working on it. I know of 5 locally off the top of my head (2 part of a dumbbell interchange, 2 on a suburban back road intersecting with lightly used roads, another in a high traffic area connecting with a highway).

they are still safer due to the speeds as long as they are designed correctly....even when people try to go the wrong way around them (but this should be hard with proper deign)

-here is my OH sh:scared:it moment during enduro practice - touched some slippery on my front @>60mph and almost lost it
