Very interesting. If it’s correct, Tesla is advertising the HP at it’s top speed and not its actual peak HP.

Tesla is absolutely sand bagging this car. From 30mph rolls, we were getting consistent 250hp range pulls (you can see it in the TV during the calibration run). Once we dropped the speed down below 15mph, the horsepower jumped considerably.

The recent Edmunds track test suggests to me those 4.6 range numbers we've seen online were with a rollout. In the video below, Edmunds did a couple of runs and got 5.3 seconds, and 4.9 seconds with a rollout. So, makes sense someone hitting Tesla's spec or a tick lower at 5.0 would get a rollout time around 4.6. This would be consistent with the OPs comment about Tesla sandbagging, and their dyno tests showing more like 250 hp from 30 mph, with the calculator JRP3 used coming up with 4.4 seconds for a 390 HP 3800 pound car.

Not to be lost in all of this, very impressive car, and really looking forward to delivery : )

So what speed was that max HP at? I'm guessing from the blobs on the bottom axis it was either somewhere near 65mph, or am I "reading" that wrong?

The HP peak is right around 68 MPH.

My gas rear drive 4000 lb car with 410 dynoed at the rear wheels did 0-60 in 4.5 sec with traction control off. BUT the launch had to be perfect to prevent wheelspin or it was 5 sec. So the 3 at 3800 lb. doing it 4.7 to 4.9 seems reasonable at 390 hp with traction control that’s not fully defeatable.

We fully defeated it ;) I wouldn't recommend doing it out way, but it can be done with a little.....persuasion.
 
I have to admit I'm a little skeptical that the Model 3 actually puts down 400hp to the wheels. That's more than a BMW M3 which goes 0-60 in 3.8s and does 1/4 mile in 12.1s @118mph (Model 3 0-60 4.6s 1/4 mile in 13.3 @103mph).
396hp / 3800lbs / 68mph = 5.6m/sec^2 = 0.57G of acceleration at 68mph. The DragTimes test where they got 0-60 in 4.6s their Model 3 is only accelerating at about 0.4G at 68mph. Have you run any acceleration tests on your Model 3? Maybe you got a hot one.

I mean, that when we did the test from 30mph, it showed about 250hp across 4 runs (248-255hp). If you watch the calibration run, you can see the screen shows a max of 248hp. When we decided to measure from 10mph, the power jumped to 393. The next 2 runs were 388 and 386 respectively.[/QUOTE]
