Would be interesting to hear why from McDonald's. Maybe for the same reason as Target with L2 chargers? It's a way to attract people to their store. Kinda like providing a paved parking lot for free. The paving was not free, but many people wouldn't put up with a muddy dirt parking lot unless it was out in the middle of nowhere. It's also such a small amount of money per charge session for a customer who stops for an hour to shop and grabs a few electrons. Target does have DC Fast Chargers in their parking lots or nearby, and I've not seen any of those that are free (but maybe somewhere there are). You can bet the first store that offers free DC Fast Charging will be super popular. It could happen.McDonalds won't allow revenue collection from the chargers. Not sure why.
How many MWh dispensed (and how many years) would typically be required to recover the extra cost of a billing system for a L2 charger?
