But the Bakersfield chargers suck. V2 and not many of them.I have been on 2 round trips through Tehachapi, SF -> Dallas -> SF; SF -> Big Bear -> SF.
I had plenty of charge between Bakersfield (I5) and Barstow. Did not even consider Mojave.

Got it. Then can stop at Mojave or Tehachapi and skip Bakersfield for Kettleman. But the Bakersfield chargers suck. V2 and not many of them.
There's a new 40-stall V3 supercharger station open in Yermo, so start over. That pretty much ensures then that SF <-> Vegas will all stack up at Buttonwillow and Barstow/Yermo and ensuring 72kw max at those V2 chargers, adding another hour or more to the ABRP estimate since you can't charge at 100kw+ speeds.

Here is the news article:
Tesla Supercharger station approved by Planning Commission
The first action toward an eventual Tesla Supercharger fueling station for Tehachapi was made by the Tehachapi Planning Commission Monday night.www.tehachapinews.com
I've actually had my eye on this Love's Truck Stop as a potential supercharger location for quite some time. Nice to see one of my ideas (eventually) coming to fruition.
So the two “permits” for this site were approved back in May. One for AD and SPR and one for Zone Variance. The original one from 2022 shows as 24 chargers. Maybe that was dropped down from 40 during final approval. No actual building permits filed though.

It doesn't make a ton of sense for shorter trips, but it's still a good location for longer trips. For example, if I drove my new long range Model S with 400 rated miles on a full charge from Vegas to the Bay Area, I could make one long stop in Tehachapi as it's basically the midway point in terms of energy consumption.I drive past daily (I live here) and there are zero signs of progress. Honestly, it's kind of a silly location since it is on the top of a mountain. It only takes about 5-7% to get to Mojave and maybe 10% to Bakersfield so if you make it to Tehachapi you can basically coast either direction.
And, as I may have said before, you’ll be at a lower state of charge relative to where you are in your trip, so you’ll charge faster. In that sense it’s ideal for longer trips.True, plus with the downhill, you can get a lot further until the next charge.
