Jet-A is not that much different from Diesel. There are a number of Diesel-powered airplanes on the market (or coming soon), and the advantage for them is that they can use Jet-A for fuel.

Most turbines can run on anything from Jet A, Diesel, Kerosene, and unleaded gasoline. When running on Gasoline temperatures internal to the turbine need to be monitored more closely.
