That would be cool. Aurora just got a transformer yesterday, so maybe Arvada's is coming soon since both use Xcel Energy.

    New EV tire options

Exactly. If you knew for sure you were going to go slow, like turning your car into a neighborhood ice cream truck, you could get away with a lower speed rating. I've read that in some parts of the EU, it's actually illegal to mount lower-speed tires. The car is not rated for 1874 lb of...

Swung by Coneville yesterday and we have a transformer. What a beauty!

Sorry, I wasn't clear. I didn't mean the parking spots themselves but the conduit stubs. Will they do anything to *help* prevent people from walking on or kicking the conduit stubs (and possibly cracking them). The SC stubs are short but the L2 stubs are over a foot long. Maybe put a little...

    New EV tire options

Thanks, that's 7 months after I took delivery, which is a long time in Tesla's world. The Li-ion low-voltage battery resulted in a weight savings of 26.9 lbs on the battery itself and a few more pounds on a lighter bracket. That's significant, and maybe it was just enough to allow a lower load...

So refreshing to see when someone considers others.

    New EV tire options

Would be interesting to see what difference, if any, that tire downgrade has made. When did you take delivery? Tesla is known for making changes during the year, so your 2022 Model 3 LR might actually have some significant differences from mine. Did you get the Li-ion low-voltage battery? I got...

    New EV tire options

I took delivery of a 2022 Model 3 LR AWD on 2021-12-20, and it came with these: Michelin Primacy MXM4 AC P235/45R18 98W EXTRA LOAD What are the speed and load ratings of your factory tires?

    New EV tire options

Good to hear. Not to be a scaredy-cat, but I would inspect them regularly.
  10. E

    New EV tire options

Regarding using the Michelin Primacy Tour A/S 235/45R18 94V LEX BSW on your 2022 M3LR, both the load index and speed rating are lower than the original tire, which is 98W: Load Index 94 (670 kg / 1480 lb) Load Index 98 (750 kg/ 1650 lb) That's per tire, so for all 4 you are 80 kg * 4 = 320 kg...

I found them at WallyWorld for the same price as on Amazon, US$135. Will be interesting to see how they work out and how long they last. Keep us posted!

    New EV tire options

Good idea. Neither Discount Tire nor Tire Rack sells the Sailun brand, but Amazon is selling the Sailun ERange EV Touring 235/45R18 98W XL Electric Vehicle Tire for US$135. Is it good or is it CCC?

Indeed! The struggle is real.

    New EV tire options

CDN$1250/1.12 = $CND1116, which at today's exchange rate is US$815. That's US$204 each, which is US$44 (18%) cheaper than Pirelli P Zero AS Plus Elect. Not that much cheaper, especially compared to the US$81 SENTURY that Discount Tire sells. Now, *that's* cheap. No thanks.

    Supercharger - Arvada, CO - W 56th Ave

Will also be interesting to see what they do - if anything - to protect the future-expansion SC and L2 spots. The whole thing is still fenced off.

I should have said "could have IR vision". Stations are usually lit at night, but if thieves cut the lights to hide their thieving, then it would be dark and IR sees better in the dark. Bots are not cars, so have different use cases. One case is nighttime surveillance in dark places. FSD...

Nice, they've relocated post 2A from the PSU to the conduit stub in the ADA cutout. Now we wait on Xcel Energy for the transformer.

    Supercharger - Durango, CO

I wonder if something has changed because I hit the Las Vegas NM station in Sept 2022 and it was next to a Comfort Inn whose restrooms were super clean. Nobody but me and the front desk person were around. Trinidad, though, was and still is a different story. Restrooms were pretty bad in 2022...

Recurrent: Model 3 drivers got 72% of EPA range with new cars, 64% after three years

Current battery degradation is between 2.9 and 3.4% at 19,500 mi on a 2022 Model 3 LR AWD. Tesla rounds to the nearest mile on the display, so can't get any closer than that. I mostly charge at home at around 7.5 kW but have Supercharged on two 1000-mi trips (1 in 2022, 1 in 2023) and one...

Recurrent: Model 3 drivers got 72% of EPA range with new cars, 64% after three years

I get the EPA range when cruising at 65 mph (~105 kph) with no heating or cooling.

    Supercharger - Durango, CO

With the Alamosa SC in place, at least you can now get to Durango from a SC to the east. Only 149 mi, so all but those with the most degraded batteries can make it.

That's where Asimov's Three Laws of Robotics comes in: First Law: A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. Second Law: A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. Third...

Was in the area last Friday (May 24), and 2 very nice dark green metal trash bins have made their appearance, but not placed exactly as on the plans. Not worth a photo. No transformer yet.

In the not-too-distant future, Tesla could deploy one or more Optimus bots, programmed for security, to guard Supercharger stations. Then the questions become: * What will they be authorized to do? * Will they just observe, and contact someone if thieves try to steal something? * Will they be...

Though it's still over a year out of date, Apple Maps via DuckDuckGo has more recent satellite imagery that shows construction in the area. That's consistent with recent info that Apple Maps has been buying more satellite imagery than Google Maps, at least from a certain commercial satellite...

The ADA crosswalk is going to connect to the sidewalk of the Residence Inn Arvada Denver West by Marriott, which Google Maps still doesn't show in either map view or satellite view (though a slightly misplaced hotel marker is now showing up where the new parking lot is). It's interesting because...

In the foreground and flat on the asphalt is the concrete utility transformer pad. You can see the shape in the red-dash-outlined area on Sheet C-3 of the plans. Time for the cone icon? @Big Earl @corywright

Robotaxi : The business of competing with human drivers

Tesla owners might not want to send out their personal car to earn money because what happens when it picks up some drunk people at a bar (who *do* need a ride) and one of them pukes all over the seat(s)? Who's going to clean it? You might be able to tell the car to not do bar pick-ups. Or maybe...

Go Fund Me for EV Charging in SE NM

Bummer! At first I thought this was the UFO McD's in Roswell, but after comparing my photos it looks like it must be in Artesia or Carlsbad. My photos of the UFO McD's show 1 post with 2 Tesla Wall Connectors and a 2nd post with 2 Clipper Creeks. Of course, you could have rearranged things since...

    Supercharger - Chemult, OR - US-97 (under construction April 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

The Supercharger in Poncha Springs, CO, does have some asphalt right where you park, but gravel is between the station and Poncha Market/Mabel's Deli (which has great tamales, BTW!).

    Supercharger - Chemult, OR - US-97 (under construction April 2024, 8 V3 stalls)

Right! Hopefully this can be put to bed with what Elon just tweeted about 25 min ago: "Just to reiterate: Tesla will spend well over $500M expanding our Supercharger network to create thousands of NEW chargers this year. That’s just on new sites and expansions, not counting operations costs...

Supercharger - Lubbock, TX - University Ave (Target)

The MSM loves to kick Tesla and Elon, in any way possible. Some say they do it for the clicks and they don't care if it's true or not. So if you want the info straight from the horse's mouth instead of Biznuss Insider or Reuterzz or other click-bait factories, Elon just tweeted this about 20 min...

    Supercharger - Temple, TX

The photo is too fuzzy for me to tell, but I can clearly count 2 unwrapped + 15 wrapped pedestals, but that ends up being an odd number of 17. Do you see more? Guess I need to find the plans.

  39. E

    Supercharger - Arvada, CO - W 56th Ave

We'll wait and see. I doubt that any Supercharger station currently under construction will be abandoned, and this one can be easily expanded in the future. Elon tweeted 2024,0430@1432, "Tesla still plans to grow the Supercharger network, just at a slower pace for new locations and more focus on...

Go Fund Me for EV Charging in SE NM

Just to close the loop: I did charge at the UFO McDonald's on April 6 on the way to Dallas for the solar eclipse. I Supercharged to 95% in Socorro NM and could almost make it to the new SC in Post TX. I only need about 25 miles, so I stopped at the L2 chargers at the UFO McDonald's in Roswell. I...

    Supercharger - Arvada, CO - W 56th Ave

Did the guys say if they were going to stop at 8 stalls or continue with the full 12 stalls + 4 L2 stalls?
  42. E

    Supercharger - Arvada, CO - W 56th Ave

Makes you wonder if this is going to initially be an 8-stall or 12-stall installation. The plans talk about expansion to 12 + 4 L2 stalls. Conduit and some concrete are in for 12 + 4 L2, so we'll see.

Supercharger - Lakewood, CO - S Wadsworth Blvd

It's showing up now. BTW, when I first saw "at the Best Buy on S Wadsworth Blvd", I thought it was referring to the under-discussion Best Buy in Belmar, located at 384 S Wadsworth Blvd in Lakewood. Yes, there are 2 Best Buy locations on S Wadsworth!

    Supercharger - Arvada, CO - W 56th Ave

Great minds think alike! I just went by there yesterday right before sunset. Your photos are better than mine, but I will add a couple shots of the existing transformer (and telecom box), both of which look like they've suffered some years of abuse. The top was off the telecom box and I...

    Supercharger - Socorro, NM

250 kW Superchargers are great if you want to minimize stopping time, like in Clayton NM at night when nothing is open, but they charge too fast if you want to stop for a leisurely meal or shop (and not have to move the car ). You can often grab take-out, but many of my Supercharger stops...
  46. E

    Supercharger - Socorro, NM

Thanks, I see that now! BTW, know it's off topic here, but I wonder if Tesla will ever put a Supercharger in Taos? This last trip between Denver and Albuquerque I charged in Alamosa, and that was the only charge stop I needed. Last fall Alamosa wasn't yet built, so I charged in Poncha Springs...

    Supercharger - Quanah, TX

I would have stopped in Childress if I had known how much better it is than Quanah. This is my first time on US-287 in a Tesla, though. Maybe time for a Supercharger rating page! Maybe there already is one somewhere? Score points for: congestion friendliness general cleanliness restroom...

    Supercharger - Socorro, NM

I've read that as well, and I guess Telsa isn't having too much of a problem with people backing into the chargers, though I saw a photo of one bent over at about a 45° angle in CA, forgot which station. This is interesting because Socorro isn't a MagicDock station. Well, at least the stall I...
