I just got my VIN for Model 3 Standard Range (rear wheel drive), and digit 7 is 'E', whereas the VIN decoders say 'F' means LFP battery.
Did they change the way they do the VIN code, or is my car going to have the old type of battery (I'd prefer the LFP)?
| Tesla says that E = Li-Ion Battery and F = Lithium Iron Phosphate Battery. However, a Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery is a type of Li-Ion battery, so either E or F could be literally correct for an LFP battery.
Yep, Tesla won't comment to me on the different codes for that 7th digit; just that my car (with an E at the 7th digit) uses an LFP battery.
