It's a bummer the new Roadster never got built. I had a Founders reservation and cancelled it after about 18 months of waiting and no news. I think there's a market for a high end electric sports car. I'd love a car that can drive itself to the track and then can handle a day of fun. I guess what I want is an electric 911.
I'm going to go against all of the arm-chair athletes here by saying that I think Tesla should continue with the Roadster and that they've been right about lowering its priority compared with the rest of their developments but it should be simmering on the back burner.
- it will be important as a halo car when it does come out but that's not really the important aspect.
- if it actually has the thrusters that have been discussed, this will be a fantastic new technology to introduce into the automobile world because, while it eeks a bit more track performance, if made affordable to put in a passenger vehicle, it can serve to mitigate slipping due to hydroplaning and hitting ice. This has the potential to save a lot of lives and hassles down the road.
