    Autonomous Vehicles and the Law

Over on Ars Technica, Jonathon GItlin has an article titled “Tesla’s “Full Self-Driving” sees pedestrian, chooses not to slow down.” When I saw in the 11.4 notes the feature that the car can track pedestrians and know when it can safely pass, I thought, uh oh, another rolling stop issue where...

Model 3 crash on local news

Remarkably, there was no mention that the car was a Tesla. Also remarkably, the driver was said to be uninjured. They speculated he had a medical emergency. The car came down the embankment in the background. These shots were taken off my TV with a camera (could not find any video on the...

Note that there are many different kinds of black screen issues. Please respond only for those matching this description: Upon getting into the car, the screen is black for about 25 seconds followed by the T for a second or two and then the normal screern. Lte connection takes a further few...

    Is weak wifi normal?

I have not been able to connect to my wifi hotspot with my 3. My S has never had a problem. In my garage, the 3 sometimes shows one of my neighbors hotspots while my iPhone shows two plus my own. In the driveway, again I only get one or two neighbors while the phone shows about twenty. Where...

My AP1 is afraid of motorhomes

Or at least one. I was on a freeway yesterday, driving in the left lane and whenever a certain motorhome was next to me, the ultrasonic proximity sensor rings showed red and the car moved away to the extent of driving on the left yellow line. The car moved back when the motorhome passed or when...

Does your AP1 read speed signs?

I keep hearing about AP1 cars reading speed signs. But my facelift AP1 MS car has not done so for a long time. It clearly uses goofed up gps and no longer changes right at the sign and is often way wrong. At least it gets speeds in places where there are no signs. I can’t imagine there is...

    Trunk size for golfer

I'm thinking of getting a model 3 for use at our vacation condo in the Palm Springs area. My wife is a golfer and being able to fit a set of clubs in the trunk is a necessity. Is the 3's trunk big enough for one or, better, two sets of clubs? I searched and found an old thread but don't know if...

AutoPilot center divider lust in Portland?

I reported a while back that AP drove over the left line in spite of perfect conditions. At that time I was driving east on the Banfield freeway in Portland OR (I84) in the left lane. Yesterday, driving west on the same freeway in the inside lane, I activated AP and the car immediatly headed...

    Feature or bug?

The stripes in the photo (hopefully since I haven't done this from my iPad before) are not something I have seen in other pictures before. The stripes move with your head position and so are an optical effect and not something static. Some people ask what it is and others say "cool".
