    Chill Mode usage

I put Acceleration Boost on my car before I ever put it in drive... Having said that, I put it in chill mode once and quickly put back to sport due to how gutless it is in chill mode. Tesla's throttle mapping is great when you're not in lame (chill) mode. It's stupid easy to accelerate gently...

    HVAC settings, when and how?

Defrost puts it into max heat mode; max heat mode will deplete the battery quickly as it sets the temp to "high" and runs the front motor to generate heat. If the windows aren't iced over, just using "climate on" with a set temp will warm the cabin without using as much power. Also, cold temps...

disproportionate inner tire wear on single tire

I was nearly down to cords by 28k miles on my '21 AWD... Your alignment is out of whack though. Get new tires and an alignment.

    Loaner mileage restriction

22,000 miles is high-mileage? LOL My '21 has just shy of 70,000 and I wouldn't call it high mileage. I've had a few loaners from Tesla for various reasons, and can't say I paid any attention whatsoever to the mileage on them. I have had a P85D with ludicrous, a M3P, and a M3 LR AWD as loaners...

Charging dropping to 9a from 48a

It's likely done charging and the draw you see is to run the HVAC to maintain the precondition temp of the cabin. My car routinely completes charging 30-45 minutes before the scheduled departure, and then sits and starts drawing current to precondition the cabin. I see anywhere from 5-12A of...

Tesla app not connecting to car while at home

2024.2.3 fixed it for me. 2024.2.2 broke wake from sleep on my car.

    No supercharge in bitter cold

Uh, superchargers work fine at -20f temps. You can't recreate an issue is almost certainly due to an issue with the supecharger, and not your car. If there were communication issues at these temps, pretty much everyone north of the mason-dixon would be raising hell about inability to charge in...

Thoughts on not choosing acceleration boost on M3LR

I activated AB before I even put my car in gear. AB was a complete no-brainer for me. Factory warranted power upgrade for a measly 2 grand? Hell yes!

    Wiper fluid?

Lot of very sheltered individuals here... Yes, good washer fluid has a high concentration of methanol (usually) to avoid freezing. No, it won't hurt your car.

    The 30-60 rule

Yeah, no. I use >30% one way to work in the winter. Sometimes, it's ~40-45% one way when it's cold and windy. I was charging to 100% and arriving home at 5-8% for a week straight so far this winter when it was both cold and windy. Even in the summer, charging to 60% would have me in single...

Winter and Teslas, Global Thread, Let’s Hear

My 2021 AWD model 3 is much more stable on poor roads than my 4x4 truck. I only drive the truck when the ground clearance of the model 3 is problematic or I need to do "truck stuff" like haul my trailer. The car is never sluggish when it is cold. The electronic nannies can be a bit...

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)

Virginia is a pressing need, IMHO. HWY 53 needs a supercharger to open up the northern part of the state, and something around Virginia would be the logical place to do it. The metro has enough, though I still think something in Burnsville or Lakeville south of the split would be nice, it's not...

Service appointments in US when coming from Canada?

I'd be shocked if a US service center would do anything on a Canadian car without it being owner pays.

    Variable schedule/pre-conditioning

You're probably not waiting until the app has actually made communication with the car... If you see something like the following, you're jumping the gun. When the app wakes the car, it'll show "parked" where the "Last seen 16 minutes ago" is on my pic. When it shows "parked", it'll respond...

    Taiga Electric Snowmobile Launch

140KM range? So, a smidge over 80 miles? That's pretty lame; like 2 to 2 and a half hours and then you need to charge. Yes, I get off the sled about every half-hour to stretch, and no I can't plug into anything every time I do that because most of the time the only things around are trees. It...

5 years worth of subscription = buying it

Autopilot does not change lanes. Period. Enhanced Autopilot has auto lane change (and navigate on autopilot, summon, and some other parking gimmick). This means it'll change lanes when you signal, or if you're brave enough to let the car decide, it'll do it by itself. My only experience with...

Snow, ice build up on Aero Covers?

I put the aero covers on when temps drop close to freezing and leave them on until temps no longer drop below freezing regularly; so, mid October to sometime in March. Never had an issue in the 2 winters I've had the car, other than being glad for that extra couple percent of range when temps...

Aside from Pedal Control (Normal to Sport) - how else to tell if the car has Accel Boost?

There shouldn't be any lag off the line with AB... A half-second difference in 0-60 when you're talking 4.2 to 3.7 (no rollout), is far from a subtle difference.

M3 Long Range, Which All Seasons?

The CC2 will drop your range by 10-15% compared to the MXM4. That being said, they should last 2x as long as the MXM4 based on the wear I've got on the set I'm running now... The CC2 is also vastly superior in the winter and wet.
  25. S

Looking at 2023 Model3 LR. Tell me why I should/shouldn't do it.

Acceleration Boost. In-App upgrade. Do it. Congrats on the new car.

    Best All Season Tire?

The range hit with CC2 is not being understated compared to the MXM4.
  27. S

    Acceleration Boost Question

Sounds like BS to get views to me. I've got AB and drive it year round where there are actually 4 seasons without issue. If one can't handle the acceleration sensitivity mapping, said person probably shouldn't be driving any vehicle at all as they're a danger to themselves and others.
  28. S

    Micheline Crossclimate 2's on a 18" Model 3 LR

10-15% hit on range is legit. Tremendous increase in traction on wet/snowy roads is the tradeoff.

Wire gauge (AWG) for HPWC (Telsa Wall Connector)

100A main panel... 40A breaker and upsized wires. Voltage drop is about 2V or less. Wire never gets warm. But, nope, I didn't think about what I installed at all.

Wire gauge (AWG) for HPWC (Telsa Wall Connector)

6/3, 40A breaker, ~25' run is what I put in.
  31. S

How Long Does Wall Connector Installation Take? I'm WFH, Need a General Estimate for How Long Power Will Be Out.

Main shouldn't need to be turned off if you have space in the panel for the breaker. That said, I turned off my main breaker when I installed my wall connector, and it was all of about 15 minutes. First time using 6 ga wire and all that, so I figured a little caution was warranted. Wiring into...

2021 tesla model 3 water leak underneath the passenger compartment

Rain is water falling from the sky, so that's where it came from... the sky. When it rains, water will collect all over on the outside of a car, and then drip out under the car after being parked. Yes, the snark here is quite intentional. Your description of the problem is comically vague. If...

How important are regen settings in snow and ice ?

As others have said, that's 100% the tires. Summer tires on pavement below 50 degrees is just foolish. Summer tires on snow is downright suicidal.
  35. S

Best climate control to heat and maintain heat during below freeze temp?

For the most part, yes. It tends, in my experience, to send more to the windshield than towards the feet though. Not enough to make me want to override it, but the algorithm it uses could use some tuning.
  36. S

Best climate control to heat and maintain heat during below freeze temp?

Set temp to desired temperature, use auto. Done (most of the time). A lot of people think they're smarter than the HVAC and they're usually wrong. I occasionally have to override it and force it to defog the windshield, but that's usually due to the car being very slow to register that it...
  37. S

Picked up my 2023 AWD LR today....loud hum from front motor?

The motor noise is very likely related to the car running the motor inefficiently to supply heat.

Wall Charger Tripping AFCI's on Other Circuits

Correct, the WC tests the ground connection, and AFCI and GFCI breakers interpret that as a fault. Your breakers are the problem.
  39. S

Wall Charger Tripping AFCI's on Other Circuits

Breakers go bad. AFCI and GFCI go bad more often because there is more junk in them to go bad.

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S vs MXM4 efficiency

The CC2 are awesome, but it's a legit 10-12% range hit. Words alone cannot describe how much better the traction is in the dry, wet, and cold over the MXM4 though. They're a slightly firmer ride, slightly more noise, an a lot more electrons used. I think I'm going to try the DWS when I wear out...

Auto lights are awful on the interstate.

For oncoming traffic, the auto high beams are now excellent. However, they don't disengage highs quite early enough when you're coming up on another vehicle moving the same direction; at least in my opinion.

    Cowbell Hell Still a Thing

Quit hitting down on the right stalk 4 times in quick succession and you won't ever have the issue. :)
  43. S

    Best All Season Tire?

CrossClimate 2 are awesome for 4 real seasons... But, they're nowhere near as efficient as the MXM4s. By that I mean you'll see at least 10% less range (or use 10% more battery for same use as MXM4). I'll probably try the DWS06 when my CC2 wear out, I had DWS06 on a different car and the tires...

    Minnesota Superchargers (location speculation, discussion)
