Tesla, TSLA & the Investment World: the Perpetual Investors' Roundtable

Careful there, the last time I suggested that a sharp sudden move down without any obvious reason why was caused by Elon selling shares, I was threatened with a ban. This isn't me telling a joke, I know you're a mod.

If they hit 1.4M, all the articles will talk about how they failed to hit 1.5M. If they hit 1.5M, all the articles will talk about how they failed to hit 2M. In 2030, if they hit 19M, all the articles will talk about how they failed to hit 20M. The media has it's narrative and it will never...

Gary's question was actually not a bad one. A succession plan is good to have, even if the current CEO plans to remain indefinitely, in case of any kind of a catastrophe. Elon should consider at least having one man prepared to take over the duties of the CEO. Zach would be a perfectly good...

This dude though. He said a bunch of nonsense but he managed to mention something important. If you disengage Autopilot/FSD by grabbing the wheel, it remains in "normal" cruise control and the car continues to move forward to maintain speed. THIS IS NOT GOOD BEHAVIOR. If you grab the wheel to...

I'm disappointed that they couldn't get enough votes to pass proposals 2 and 3, again. The American-style voter apathy extends to corporate governance as well apparently. Shareholders need to vote their shares, it's an essential part of governance of a pubicly traded company. Sigh.

There are many reasons why even a UK that was a part of the EU would not be a good site for a Gigafactory. The biggest one has long been the presence of the English Channel separating the UK from mainland Europe. That would have disqualified the UK already even before they left the EU.

This is actually relevant to Tesla, because Apple has built a brand with a high customer loyalty and this is something that Tesla is also doing, with what I believe will be similar results. https://www.sellcell.com/blog/cell-phone-brand-loyalty-2021/ So you can see here that Apple has by far...

To be fair to you, 14 years later in 1999, Apple was on the verge of bankruptcy after years of decline under various uninspired managers. Many investors who might have held from 1985-1999 would have seen almost no returns during that long period. The company was turned around by the return of...

Nothing has changed since then. Apple is timeless and omnipotent. If you're a young person today and your bubble isn't blue, you're going to be ostracized and have no friends. The power that Apple has over American society is actually terrifying if they ever used it for evil purposes.

Haha that's only uh a $3.7T valuation or something, at that point we would have surpassed both Apple and Saudi Aramco's valuations... I mean it's likely by 2030 but I'm not going to sit here and hold my breath. When it happens, it happens.

Apple's market is extremely inelastic, because if you want an iPhone there is only one supplier and Apple's ecosystem lock-in is by far the strongest of any platform. Even gasoline seems to be a more elastic demand market than Apple product is judging from recent events.

Tesla has been known for years to lowball trade-in offers. It's the price you pay for convenience. If you don't like it, you can sell third party using Carmax or Carvana. Keep in mind that some states only charge sales tax on the net cost of a car, so say if you traded that car in for $41k and...

Fremont will likely be where the Roadster is built and once space is freed up it will be more useful as a development facility than a factory for mass production. I would expect at some point they will no longer need to build 3/Y in Fremont at all, and it will be for just S/X/Roadster and also Semi.

Leveraged ETF's, whether correlated or inverse, at a value of 1x, 2x, or 3x (or sometimes even higher!), are financially very complicated instruments. I don't pretend that I or anyone else really understands how they work but their track records for solvency are abysmal. Most of the time...

On the contrary, I don't think Burry is an idiot at all. The problem with short sellers is they make their careers calling one Big Short that pays off huge and then they spend the rest of their lives calling a crash every year and hoping it comes true. And Burry's Big Short only paid off huge...
