Why didn't Tesla offer a non-stagger wheel option for the MYP?

You can sell new 21s for about 2k and put that towards a set of aftermarket wheels. You're paying a premium for overpriced TSportline wheels.

Austin Built 24 MYP Quicksilver Delivery on 5/11/24

That's nuts, but if the numbers make sense. In CA, we're on the hook for the taxes and we can't deduct the trade in. Makes it less appealing to jump around.

Trying to understand my options for a second set of rims for a '23 MYP

Keep an eye on CL. I paid $450 for 4 curbed 19" with OEM TPMS and hubcabs. Offset is great for the winter too since everything stays in the wheel wells.

Need help deciding on a purchase

Do you not care about any interior/exterior combo? Do you care about acceleration? If no, I'd get the long range. The performance will go through rear tires faster, tires cannot be rotated, has less range and is more inefficient.

    20x8.5 square Work Brombachers installed

    20x8.5 square Work Brombachers installed

thanks! yeah, I did want bronze, but didn't want to spend the money right now. Maybe next winter? My partner curbed the wheels when they were on the X, so I do need to refinish them anyways. There's plenty of clearance because it's moving the wheel away from the the hub. The spacer width I...

If you feel you have a perfect car, I would not make any changes. There are lots of small, but annoying issues people are encounterihng with the newer Ys. Do you need the extra range?

    Aftermarket TPMS?

Reporting back, I mounted everything yesterday and the sensors did pair immediately. I had a small leak on the TPMS side, but that's more of a factor of my wheel than the sensor. I snugged down the collar while mounting, but after seating the tire beads the sensor must have shifted. All four...

    20x8.5 square Work Brombachers installed

I have a small concern about air leakage due to the diameter of the sensor. It barely seats from the inside and required some finagling to not leak. Everything is pressurized and holding steady, but we'll see. Since I was doing this myself, I used a breaker against the studs and wood to...

    20x8.5 square Work Brombachers installed

I had these on my previous X and had another set of adapters made so I could fit them on the Y. There were some delays with the anodizing so it took a little longer than I would have liked but the timing worked out since it's just starting to warm up. Tires are 255/40Z/20 Continental...

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Eh, personally I want to get in the car and drive. Not toggle back and forth in menus to enable/disable things. We like EAP, but we didn't pay $6k since it came with the car. It's not worth $2k either. On the Y we just cancel AP to change lanes, then reengage.
  28. ngng

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

That was the original behavior, it has since changed
  29. ngng

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Why would we pay $2k for FSD and disable it? As it stands, you can't transfer FSD right now unless Tesla is running a special. Regardless, we wouldn't pay $2k for EAP either 😂

EAP owners.. are you spending $2k to get FSD?

Nope, we like EAP and the ability to single/double tap to activate cruise/lane keep.

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

I think this is important. Cross country in a Cessna with a run of the mill AP is boring and uneventful which is what I'd want out of Tesla's FSD. Sure, it'll try to kill you but you know exactly how it'll do it every time. FSD wants to kill me a million different ways. I used a mix of V11/V12...

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

Yeah, +1 to all of that. The Chinese cars are so cheap, even with crazy tariffs they are going to be be cheaper than any US made EV. "FSD" gives Tesla a competitive adv, but not if consumers have to pay for it.

Forming an LLC (or S Corp) to lease (yes, lease)

You should talk to a tax professional. Good luck justifying that to the IRS with no income
  35. ngng

    FSD now $8,000. Who's buying?

I think Tesla will need to offer EAP features for free to stay competitive. Their current AP offering actually makes the car feel dated. My guess would be when the tech stack is unified between highway and local. I predict: - FSD viz at a minimum but probably… - free FSD viz and EAP highway -...

Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

This looks similar to @bradthebold's results. My conversion might be off, but his toe is approx 0.19 degrees using the stock wheel diameter. Based on that, I think the move is to use a 4.8mm shim stack and reuse the OEM bolts
  43. ngng

Alternative, DIY refresh Model X rear camber correction

Interesting. The taller 5.5mm require aftermarket hardware but the 4.8mm do not. I'm interested in final readings on your reds once you get the car aligned. Curious how they compare to the 4.8mm, which looked very good.

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

If I’m forced to add a lot of weight I’ll typically stack it. When I see a large strip it’s usually a case of somebody reading 6oz and pulling out the entire length

Rusty (yellowish) liquid coming from center of the both front wheels

If there’s no vibration it’s not a cause for concern. Looks like a lazy tech. It’s not going to hurt anything.
