I think it was on the Europcar stand if I remember correctly. The Cupra Born was there, blue with gold accents, can’t remember which stand though.

Any stalls selling stuff for teslas? i still need some accessories
That NRMA Kempower charger is a good looking unit.
Those cables are basically asking to be vandalised though, sticking out like that.
The map is interesting including the Chargefox 350kW chargers, but excluding the SA ones in Berri and Tanunda (though that has been down for a while)
I went for an hour and a half today. I'd give it a 6.5 / 10. Scored down because:
- no ID buzz,
- no cupra born
- in fact, none of the big EV makers: Tesla, Kia, Hyundai, VW, ...rivian, ford.
- no ebikes.
- no real industry experts, just you-tubers.
Still worth going, and I'll be there tomorrow.
Going back tomorrow to see if I can get a 1 to 1 with a home energy person.
OT but also make sure you take into account how noisy they are. Ours, a Rheem one (sorry don’t know the model, but for a 4-bedroom house), is louder than our ducted air conditioner. Same sort of noise, because obviously they are the same sort of thing, just more of it. Saves a lot of power vs the normal off-peak the house had previously but definitely check if the noise levels will be ok where you are considering to put it.down one side to store a heat-pump tank. And the tanks needed for a 4-bedroom house are big
Cupra Born is at the EuropCar standI'll look out for the cupra today.
Another absentee was janus trucks who fully charged just did a show on.
Geez you’re a hard marker . The absence of all the non-Chinese EV makers was well-flagged in the programme, and given the bollocking Toyota got (often to much applause) at a number of the talks, I‘m not surprised they didn’t dare show their face.
My main disappointment with the talks is that the YouTubers often gave rambling answers that didn’t answer the questions well, from the MC or the questions from the floor. It was very obvious who has had media training and who hasn’t.
But most importantly, did you win your cricket semi-final?
Interesting.that the Chargfox brand would eventually disappear, as Chargefox are moving away from being a CPO to doing the backends.
Yeah, I asked similar today when I said hello to NRMA - they said they definitely don't want yet another app just for charging at their stations, whether they bake it into the existing NRMA app, or use the Chargefox app.Interesting.
I can see why it makes sense for NRMA (and possibly it's other partners to take over the existing 350kW network.
But then surely Chargefox just becomes a billing/ access provider and it makes sense to have the NRMA network on Chargefox along with Yurika, Gold Coast etc...
I asked the same at NRMA - yep, cost for charging, discount for members, with idle fees etc - the whole deal. And the sooner the NRMA chargers become non-free (for everyone - members included) and add idle charges to the better. I saw in someone’s post above that NRMA are now saying members (I am one FWIW) will get a discount on charging rather than free-for-members; that’s much better IMHO, aligned with how NRMA members are treated at ChargeFox chargers now.
I also asked Evie about idle fees - they have no plans to introduce them.I had at great day at Fully Charged Live. I rocked up at about 10:30 having no idea whether this event would be a massive flop or a smash hit… to be met with a nearly 400m queue of people to get in doing a loop of Level 4 and snaking down the steps to Level 3!
The queue moved pretty quickly though and 15 minutes later I was in. Lots of people inside an a good buzz. Some photos below.
”Off the record” tidbits from talking to various exhibitors:
- NRMA plan to have their App out roughly midyear, and will commence charging for charging™ once that happens. Members will get a discount but “free” will be gone.
- New NRMA sites will use the Kempower hardware (photo below)
- EVX plan to install 200-300 pole mounted kerbside chargers in Sydney this year. The hardware is made locally. They say the box is as big as it is in order to comply with Ausgrid electrical safety requirements but they would not reveal more than that. Reserving ports is a feature that is coming. Where they put the chargers is dictated a lot by what the local council wants. I suggested residential streets without offstreet parking is where most should go, not primarily cafe strips or local attractions.
- Evie plan to double the size of their network this year. They ended 2022 with 100 sites, so they want to do another 100 this year. Tritium spare parts supply has apparently improved and repair times are shortening. They are acutely aware of the negative impact broken chargers have and hate it as much as the drivers do.
Saul Griffiths?- no real industry experts, just you-tubers.
Only if you count EV Stealth Solutions with their towbars. I’m guessing the Australian accessory sellers are mostly non-storefront operations (run out of a garage or warehouse).Anyone go? thoughts?

Re charging integration and V2G, the answer was “we’re working on it” but not ready yet. One interesting comment by Tim Washington of JetCharge was that V2G will use the bigger CCS2 plug not type 2 as too many different internal inverters makes it hard for grid operators, so I presume this means the eventual V2G box will pull DC direct from your battery invert it to AC and push it onto the grid. Just my speculation.I spent a couple of hours there today and found it was money well spent. AGL gave me some advice that will cover the cost of entry to the show, and then some. Plus I talked to Evee about their rental options and might be able to justify another EV if I can rent it out too.
The panel sessions were packed with standing room only, so I didn't listen to any of those.
The MG4 looks like a decent car coming around September, according to a chap on the stand. I was disappointed to hear from BYD that the Dolphin is arriving towards the end of the year, as that was the car I intended on getting for my wife. I'll see which car arrives first and probably purchase that.
The small hydrofoil boat, The worlds most advanced electric hydrofoil watercraft, was an interesting concept. Alas with rising interest rates I don't have the spare cash for such a toy for ~$70,000 .
I was hoping to see more integration specialists. That is, a company that can offer solar panels, batteries, car chargers and hot water heat pump systems that all work together according to the customer's needs. That seems to be a gap in the market, especially for people doing major renovations or a new build.
Looking at the number of people there today and feedback from one booth operator that they were surprised at the positive turnout yesterday, the show looks like a success.
* All the major manufacturers *did* attend this one and confirmed the above
Yeah , but what about all the other panelists?Saul Griffiths?
Jake Whitehead?
Ray Wills?
Behyad Jafari?
