While we love our Model Y, Tesla service is deplorable. It's "roadside assistance" is an oxymoron at best. Road service is only provided within 50 miles of a service center, which leaves the many Tesla owners in Tallahassee out in the cold.
My wife recently experience a simple flat tire. She contacted Tesla's "roadside assistance", supposedly included on our 18-month-old model Y, only to be told that the only available service option was to have the car towed to the Jacksonville Service Center. Give me a break, it's just a friggin flat tire for God's sake!
I'm re-thinking our purchase, which is our second Tesla. The only news that would convince me that it may be premature to trade in our Model Y for a more easily serviced plug-in hybrid is an announcement that a Tallahassee service center is about to open. I checked, and found that the site of the former Saturn dealership won't be officially permitted before July 12th. And, how many months thereafter will it take to actually provide a service facility?
Don't get me wrong, Elon Musk makes great cars, and, he can send people into space. All I'm asking is that he makes it possible to easily change a simple flat tire!
