A lot of talk about Tesla making their sales numbers before the quarter. But it seems like it's in June? Is that the 2nd quarter end?

A lot of talk about Tesla making their sales numbers before the quarter. But it seems like it's in June? Is that the 2nd quarter end?

How does it all work?

Their financial quarters are just calendar quarters. So we're 13 days into a new quarter. But it takes time for the accountants to clean everything up, fill out the right forms, and stuff like that, so the announcement of the Q1 results is delayed for 5-7 weeks (for Tesla... each company is different). According to Yahoo Finance the Q1 earnings announcement is due May 9th, but as we saw last time, their guess is just a guess.
