Hello can anyone with window tints on there Tesla show me photos of the finish look. Just had mine done and not happy with how big the gaps are, the tint business said it was normal to leave a gap which I get but surely not as big as mines

Thanks in advance

My model 2018 model 3 that I had tinted 1 week after pickup, which was december of 2018, by a local tint shop to me that I have been using for close to 20 years. Note that this tint is 5.5 years old at this point:

My wifes model 2022 model Y done by the same shop:

These were hand cut, not machine cut.

Oh heck no, I didn't have any bubbles of specks under the tint. My tinting was machine cut and extended to the edge of the class. That is just ugly!

There is usually a small gap left around the edges so the repeated opening and closing of the window doesn't wear on the edge of the tint and eventually cause it to peel. It should be hidden by the weatherstripping when the window (door) is closed.

It's a little hard to gauge just looking at pictures, but I'd say the gap on yours is unacceptably large and I'd be unhappy with it.

The question is, does the gap show when the doors are closed?

UPDATE:
Took the car back they said will change them.
As they removed the rear window tint it removed about half of the window defroster lines. They have said they will pay for a new window fitted by Tesla. Does anyone have any idea how much that will cost? I’ve put a service request on the app.

Go back-they cut it too short probably while door was shut.
(sorry to revive an old thread) This is most likely the case. Tint shops will cut on the outside as a template and then install on the inside, because of the drop when the door is open the template would have been off. I watched a video recently where the guy just used a screwdriver to trick the door into thinking it had been shut.

Now, I have my own question... Can anyone advise me if 80% tint (20% light transmission) would be sufficient to match the panoramic roof and provide a decent level of privacy? I was thinking about 95%tint/5% transmissible but I want the privacy without making the back of the car overly dark.

I live in Arizona. I did 35% all the way around plus the roof. (I needed to attenuate the sun in my head.) As far as a match, it’s minor and really unnoticeable because it’s difficult to see a side by side comparison of the horizontal roof and vertical windows.

Thanks for the info, I'll be looking to get the tint on the rear windows and the rear windscreen. My issue isn't so much with the roof matching the sides (although that would be nice) it's more that a lot of people in the UK will only tint the rear screen and not carry on up to the upper edge of the pane of roof glass.

20% matches the roof-illegal in most places. But it looks cool, one long continuous glass and keeps interior cooler temperature.
I'd only be looking to do rearwards of the B pillars so in the UK (where I am) that would be legal (no limits being B pillars, stringent rules in front of them). My issue now seems to he finding someone who will tint from the bottom of the rear windscreen all the way up to the central beam with the rear dome lights.
