Charging history of Wall connector in the app

why my tesla charge status is different then wall connector charge history in the app? For example the charge status shows it added 48 kWh while Wall connector app shows it added 52.8 kWh? Why they are so different? Does wall connector status include preconditioning the Tesla as well? While charge status only shows how much power was added to the battery only?

2018 Model X Let me leave home without FOB

Hello all, I recently got locked out of my 2018 MX. I didn't realize it when I left home but I did not have my FOB on me and I had left my phone in the car. When I got out of the car at my destination it automatically locked the doors and I had no way to get in. I eventually was able to use someone else's phone to download the app and sign in to unlock my car. My question is since I don't have the phone as key option, how did it let me "start" the car and drive away from home without the FOB? Ends up I can't find the FOB anywhere at home so I'm using the app on my phone to let me drive when I'm away from home but it lets me leave home every time without the app or the FOB. Any thoughts?
Thanks a bunch!

2018 MX Center console usb port replacement

On a recent drive into work, I accidentally spilled some coffee into my center console. Unfortunately, as luck would have it, I spilled it right into the two USB ports. Both of them are now dead. I have tried multiple usb drives in both ports and have been unable to get the car to recognize that they were connected. My assumption is the ports need to be replaced, and hopefully not the entire usb hub.

Does anyone know where I can find instructions on replacing the center console's USB ports? I would also really appreciate any information on the parts needed.

Thank you in advance.

P85D bricked hard reboot at dealer

This past Thursday 10-19-23 I went out to get lunch, my P85D started to open and then the lights came on and stayed on and the car was totally locked up. Could not access the car with app or fob. Had it towed to the service center on Friday. Initially they thought it might be the main body control module. I picked up my car today (Monday) and was told all it needed was a hard reboot which wiped out all my settings. Has anyone ever experienced this before? I have had this car for 3 years with no issues. I was wondering if the last OTA might have had something to do with it?

  • Question
Limit charging of PW2 to set hours

Can I limit my Power Wall 2 Charging to set hours.
I'm in NSW Australia and next year the power companies will charge to export power to the grid between 1000 hrs and 1400 hrs
My battery now charges as soon as excess solar is available and is normally fully charged by 1000 hrs so will be penalized around AUD$0.03 per kW export during these hours
Would like to set the charging window so that the solar is exported before 1000 hrs and after 1400 hrs and maximize charging during export cost time
Does any one know if this is possible?

2017 TESLA S --- GPS STUCK

GPS on my 2017 Tesla S gets stuck frequently. The problem goes away by itself within a day or so, and then comes back a week later. This has been happening for the last 12 months or so. I brought the car to Tesla service. They kept the car for 10 days, and even experienced the stuck GPS problem during a test drive, but still could not offer a solution. They charged me $400+ for their investigation. The problem has happened at least twice since then.

I saw that many others on this forum have been experiencing the same issue. I am wondering if anyone has been able to solve the problem permanently.

Any recommendations to help make an automated car wash a less stressful experience?

The first time I washed my Model 3, I went to Crew Carwash, a place that mostly does automated car washes, but some locations have interior cleaning and self-wash services. I went through the automated car wash that first time and had 2 problems. 1st was confusion in getting the car into neutral. I’ve got that down now - I think. 2nd was at the end of the wash, I couldn’t get the car to switch back into drive without hitting the brakes which is a problem in an automated car wash and I almost caused a pileup.

I’ve never had any issues with car wash mode. That works fine and I’ve usually, manually rolled up windows and checked all the doors ahead of time.

It’s getting cold outside and I’m not enthusiastic about self-washing at home or otherwise. Any recommendations to help make the automated car wash a less stressful experience would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Front Facing Camera Got Too Hot?

Hello everyone, I'm 3 months into owning my first Tesla and I love it. I recently noticed that my front dashcam footage has been getting blurrier and blurrier in the past 2 weeks. I go look at the front cameras to make sure that they're clean and are free of any residue. But see what appears to be a "smudge" under the glass where the housing is. Is this something that I can fix or needs to go to a dealer to be resolved?

Adding Second Driver - Web Link Not Working

Hi Everyone!

I’m trying to add my wife to my Tesla Model Y through her own Tesla app. She downloaded the app, created her account but when she clicks on the link on the Tesla webpage nothing happens. The webpage that pops up is the one from my invite through my Tesla app “Add Driver”.

The web page basically reloads and nothing else happens.

I’m not sure what is happening so is there another way to do this?

3 questions about my model 3

Is Tesla paint repair kit as bad as some ppl say? I have some black dots on the lower front bumber and my clay bar didn't do anything so I think they are chips. I saw some discussions saying the Tesla paint repair kit is garbage (which disappoints me because I'd think they're pearl white would be closest to factory) but if it is true is touch up direct better?
Should I follow the door label on tire psi (42) or the app psi (45)? I saw some discussions on this and ppl were arguing about how tire psi recommendations are from the 90s? Couldn't find a clear answer.
I bought mine used with no accident reports but the front bumper has hard dried paint drips, so does that mean it was replaced or it could come from the factory like that? And how expensive would it be to fix?

  • Question
No dashcam footage captured for a collision

My Y's dashcam is set on "Auto". So I'd expect it to automatically capture and save videos that involves a collision.
Recently, I had a minor accident where a parked car suddenly backed into me while I was momentarily stopped behind it (waiting for the car in front of me to move and turn) and hit me as I was about to move forward.

Since I was going slow (just starting to accelerate), the car only hit my front right bumper (thank goodness!!!), but it was hard enough to push the bumper a bit out of alignment and bend the plate at the bottom. Of course, I was upset after that incident (it's my newer Y, barely 3K miles on it!), and didn't remember about my dashcam and didn't click the button to "save" the video.

A couple of hours later, realizing my car is set to "auto" record, I started scanning for footages, and didn't find anything for that incident at all -- nothing for the day!
Was worried the other party would deny responsibility and I don't have any dashcam footages to show as additional proof (although all the circumstances and the right of way definitely clear me from any fault).

I'm still waiting on Tesla to tell me why the "auto" setting didn't work at all. This was an actual collision, as there was an impact.
Asking them if this could be a bug in the system.
The first response I got was maybe the USB wasn't there. I was like, it is there because I have all my other footages in there. I could see all my manually captured videos and those from Sentry, but nothing for the actual collision which I expected Tesla would automatically store.

Just relieved that the other party's insurance has confirmed responsibility. But if the camera's auto setting is buggy, there's no guarantee that those precious footages will be available when you need them most.

Any similar experience with missing collision footages?

How to prevent battery preconditioning for supercharger

Hello, Tesla installed a supercharger just beside my apartment complex recently. It went online last week and I was very excited about this. But, now it became a bittersweet problem. Every time I start navigating to my home, my Tesla thinks that I'm going to a supercharger and starts preconditioning the battery. So far I couldn't find anything to prevent this. Does anyone know how can I prevent this from happening.

  • Question
I took deliver at 11 am drove 150 miles and got a "vehicle may fail to restart"

Car had like a 165 miles, less than 3 hrs of drive time and a 15 minute V3 tesla charger charge. Of course I was taking my wheel chair bound father to the oncologist and it was 330pm on a Friday and I live out if state and vehicles can't be taken out of state. Anyway, 2023 Y performance. It would send a message only when I applied throttle, not when stopped or braking. May be coincidental. Warning would come and go and came with greater frequency after 20 miles. I went 145 miles and charge went from 98% to 28%, just like the car predicted. 80* and going 80mph. Charge in Collinsville IL took 15 minutes. I met some super nice folks driving an X. I charged to 80% and drove another 40 miles or so and went to 69%. Driving 60 to 70 mph on average. Tesla service in Chesterfield and S Co were excellent. Thanks to John at S Co and Dino in Chesterfield. Also the Tesla service advisor was warranty? I'm driving a p90. Possibly a connection, sensor or bad cell. If a bad cell they replace w OEM new. Do I have any worries about my electronics if a cell? Should I insist on an extended warrant? I'm hoping they drive my car back to me as I'm 120 miles away. Amazing car.
White on White and performance Y. Feels as fast as the p90d. I absolutely love it. I started on highly modded Buick Grand nationals and have had Cobra, Vets, CTS v, 392 300, you get it fast toys, this thing is like a molded GN, runs like a scalded dog. What do you guys think. Sorry for long first post. Greetings and salutations BTW!

  • Question
Winter tire suppliers in Toronto - anybody used Tesloid?

Tesla is out of stock of winter package for my ten-day-old MYLR (which offers Pirelli only). Costco has 19” Michelin X-Ice (which I prefer based on reviews) that I can order but then need to find & buy rims and TPMS and get them to Costco.

Tesloid is offering the same well-rated tires (Michelin X-Ice) with OEM 19” Gemini wheels and Bluetooth TPMS that they would deliver to my house and then come to my house with Tesla-appropriate jacks to switch my tires.

Has anybody used Tesloid for tires and how did it go? Just uncertain about committing to the tires from the floor mat supplier. Thanks SO much!

  • Question
Charging issues

I have had charging issues with my 2020 model X. The displayed miles do not correspond with actual mileage. I am planning to drive from Carson City Nevada to Bishop California tomorrow. Will I be able to make it? My concern is that there is a big gap from a charging station at Topaz Lake all the way to Mammoth Lakes California. Any help would be greatly appreciate it.

  • Question
Very loud urgent BEEP?

I had a very loud unusual BEEP/KLAXON sound today.

Nothing weird with traffic or driving, no message or graphic description, no phantom braking, no shadows or overpass, no autopilot. About half a second. Stopped for errand, about 10 minutes later same thing. The sound intensity was like a NYC fire truck right next to me.

2018 X, 85,000 miles. Firmware 2023.32.9. I’ve heard every sound the car makes, this one was totally different and louder.

I rebooted the displays a little later, has not reoccurred yet. Car is driving normally. Any ideas?

  • Question
To upgrade or not

I currently own a 2016 Tesla Model S. With the recent price reductions, I've been looking at the new 2023 Model S. So I have two questions for you if anyone willing to help me.

1. I currently have unlimited charging on my vehicle which is transferable to a new buyer. In addition, though, Tesla's offered to transfer that unlimited charging to a new model. Model S. In your opinion, does the addition of the unlimited charging add a significant price to the resale value of my 2016? I have a home charger, and only use the superchargers occasionally.

2. With all that's going on in the EV market and with Tesla, it's this even a good time to consider buying a new vehicle?

I would greatly appreciate your honesty. Thank you for your time.
Lawrence Hufty.
