Like jcoanoe suggested a lockable weatherproof enclosure sounds like a good idea if security is a concern. Wearing out the contacts on the 14-50 could cause melting and burning. Not worth the risk.

It will work but it’s not Ideal. The best setup is a hard wired Tesla wall connector. It has the added benefit of being more aesthetically pleasing as well. Then you can keep your mobile connector in the vehicle in the event you need to charge while traveling.
