I don't have a hitch, so I don't have trailer mode - I wish I did. Basically the system beeps like crazy when going in reverse, but is quiet when going forward. Since I tend to drive that way most of the time ;) it's not an issue.

I completely concur that if you can justify the investment in a hitch + hike mount rack, that's the better option. For me, I'm an occasional rider, so I can't. What I CAN say is that over the course of 7+ years and probably 300+ mountings and dismountings of the Allen Sports compact trunk rack...

Here's a couple of pics that somebody posted of an Allen Sports 2-bike rack on a Model 3. I suspect it was the Deluxe 2-bike rack. Note that Allen Sports does not list this rack as being compatible with the Model 3, so caveat emptor.
