Now in most locations there is a backup J1772 or plug if the Superchargers fail you. So you are delayed instead of being stranded. I also have the CCS adapter so I can use those DC fast chargers as well.

This seems to be tied to the problems with the 4680 battery. If the 4680 doesn't have the energy density they thought it would have, they can't provide the range they estimated. Of course they could have been informing us the whole time instead of dropping a huge disappointment bomb today.

They have been talking a long time about how hard this thing is to build. Hard to build = more money. Tesla will do what they always do, charge the early adopters more money to be first. Then as demand falls and they work out the production problems the price will fall over the years.

My wife and I are going up to Thief River Falls next summer for some family genealogy research. I’m planning on using the Supercharger at Bemidji as a base to get in and out. But if some of these chargers are complete it would make a good backup.

This is interesting as we have never had a look at the permit process before. Now the electrical work is done and approved my guess is Tesla will do their own testing and finish bringing it online. I wonder how long that will take?

I wouldn’t buy a third party adapter, many charge networks require the adapter to be made by the vehicle manufacturer. I don’t know if the chargers can tell the difference but for liability issues alone I would stick with Tesla.

My guess is the chargers being removed was part of the sale. The new owner being afraid of some kind of liability if they kept the chargers.
