Isn’t the whole point of Tesla insurance that they are in the unique position of owning both the car and the insurance policy? It would cost them nothing to turn on FSD on a replaced vehicle where as third party insurance couldn’t do it without covering the cost of the software feature again...

Was this during the last sale or something? Or more recently? I’m in a similar spot where I have EAP, and I want HW 3.0 so that I get all the updates, but I’m looking at another $5k which seems a tad unfair.

I am financing mine, I was able to call an agent and have them add my financing organization as the loss payee. The agent was also able to send the updated documents to whoever I needed it go to.

I switched yesterday, mine went from about 300/ mo with MetLife to 118/ mo with Tesla.
