Cooling the Performance Model 3 On Track – An Overview of Our Modified Heat Exchangers

Agree with the nervous rear. I spun mine at 160km/h due in part to a little unsettling going into a corner, but I was also going really hard and put the boot in too early too hard with 30;70 bias. I am not convinced it wouldn't have done exactly the same thing without any regen, maybe 35:65...

Cooling the Performance Model 3 On Track – An Overview of Our Modified Heat Exchangers

In my experience, brake temps, followed by battery temp. To reduce brake temps you can use high regen settings, however, this introduces high temps in the battery. So, to keep the brakes happy, you need to cool the battery. Next I found was the rear motor. The only things that throttled the car...

You need to go to Andamooka! That's a real eye opener. I did Roxby Downs to Uluru with an overnight in Coober Pedy. Fantastic drive to see the scenery and geology change and WOW, is that rock amazing! Kata Tjuta is also magnificent. As a side note, managed to get an average of 7.8l/100km out of...

What does the LR Acceleration Boost cost in Australia?

    0-100 is 0-62mph. It does 0-60 in 3.7s and 0-100 in 3.9 as I understand it.

This is fantastic. I did a track day last weekend and was just looking at race render. Will try this too.

Track Day with the Model 3

Track day report: tl;dr it's amazing fun and fast but progressive. The car has more balls than me, I could have used it harder. In 2 hours I managed 77km around The Bend West circuit, a 3.4km track, so about 20 laps. I went to the supercharger 3 times with a total cost of $22.44. from a cost...

Track Day with the Model 3

I wasn't really looking at the other car from a which one's faster kind of thing, just the 3 and the setup he had for it.

another track run with an M3P. He runs 39/45 psi hot on a 36 degree day?

Track Day with the Model 3

Cool, will lower the pressure a bit more then. The Shahins have of course, put an OTR there (where the Superchargers are) which is handy to change pressures! I was concerned with the stretched sidewalls low pressures wouldn't be a good thing, especially if I hop over a kerb. I'll see how it...

Track Day with the Model 3

That's super handy. I have the bend tomorrow so will lower cold tyre pressures to 36 to start with. It'll be 29 degrees so I guess heat will be a similar issue. I will see what I can do to manage it, the brakes going off seems to be a theme, though, so I'd rather have a hot motor than no brakes...

Track Day with the Model 3

Yeah, it just seems like it introduces a little tail wiggle under brakes if rear biased so it'll probably feel a little like the Astra Turbo used to. I'll get used to it. How did the brake discs hold up? Also, did you monitor the tyre pressures?

Track Day with the Model 3

He's not well informed. In track mode, it uses torque vectoring. When it's going straight he's correct, it's supposed to be AWD, the FWD/RWD setting is only when not going straight. That's by design and he noticed but probably should have known. On the regen braking, that would be very different...
