Tesla Model 3 and speed limit signs

No matter how good or bad sign recognition is in Tesla today, an over the air update will change it in the future. (Not always for the better.) Your Ford however will never change. Owning a Tesla is a voyage of discovery. There is always something different. If you have not yet had a test...

Octopus Go - Specific Charging Time

Just leave it plugged in. If your Anderson charger is doing the timing, then the car will not be drawing any power outside the scheduled charging period, and if you need a top up just tell the Anderson to start a charge. If you get into the habit of plugging it in every time you get home, you...

    Ohme's new smart charging app

Additional 'nodes' can be added to NodeRed to simplify tasks. The node node-red-contrib-tesla will do all the communication with the Tesla API for you. You would also need to parse the Octopus API to work out when to start and stop the charge. There is another node...

    Ohme's new smart charging app

No. It works by using the Tesla API to start and stop charging. You could use a dumb charge point. Seems like a no brainer to me. The EV Energy app looks very similar. Personally I achieve the same thing using NodeRed running on a Raspberry Pi.

    Octopus Go - renewal?

I got a similar email, but when the time came around I received another email saying my fixed rate tariff had ended and now I was on the Octopus Go tariff even though I was already on it. I think it is just a matter of their back end system sending out automatic end of tariff emails. If you...

    Thanks for the informative responses.

    Does TACC avoid undertaking?

Moderator comment - thread merged from "Does TACC avoid undertaking?" On a rare lockdown motorway journey yesterday I noticed my M3 would not undertake cars travelling slower than me on the right hand lane. I am sure before Christmas it would happily undertake. Is it just me or has the...

    Ranger service unavailable?

Could be they have all been put onto duties getting vehicles delivered for year end. The last time I spoke to a ranger he mentioned he had had to do that in the past.

Did supercharger network influence your buying decision

Newspapers always seem to find new EV owners who have never heard of Zap-Map and rely only on Ecotricity chargers at service stations to write stories about. The Ecotricity network is of course appallingly bad and justifies newspaper articles exposing it. However if this couple had used spent a...

    Polar/BPChargemaster another price rise

Chargemaster is the reason I sold my BMW i3 and bought a Tesla. I did not use them often enough to make a subscription worthwhile, and the Polar Instant app is appallingly bad. Even the contactless payment is flaky. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. I will not be rushing to try out one...

    Stupid questions from a newbie!

EV batteries are not as delicate as you might think. So long as they are not left for long periods either fully charged, or fully discharged they are fine. Just get into the habit of plugging it in every time you get home, and then you are unlikely to wake up to a car with insufficient range for...

    Aliexpress - Any regular users?

I have used Aliexpress a lot over the last few years. The delivery time depends a lot on which carrier the vendor uses. When you place an order you can choose from a list of delivery methods with estimated times. Not surprisingly the cheapest carriers tend to quote the longest times, but in my...

    Fellow car cleaning obsessives...

New user here. Picking up my M3SR+ this afternoon. Very excited. Useful tips here on keeping it looking nice. I discovered that Karcher Outlet sell stuff on their own web site cheaper than they do on their ebay shop, so I picked up a K4 yesterday for £132.78 delivered. The same item was...
