Wiki Everything you wanted to know about Intelligent Octopus But Were Afraid To Ask

I am also see this odd "bitty" stop-start approach from Intelligent Octopus I think the main problem for me with this approach is reliability. Octopus occasionally loses the connection to the car and, if that happens during an off phase, charging won't start again! Also I can't see the point...

    Wiper blade replacement model Y

The correct wipers are the Bosch Aerotwin A622S which are 650/500mm. Until recently everyone has recommended the A871S - they fit OK but are 650/475mm - slightly too short on the passenger side leaving a small unwiped section of the screen on the passenger side of the windscreen.

@grumpybugger There are 2 things that control charging - your wall charger and the car - that are like two independent "switches". If you have Octopus controlling the car then you need to make sure the Easee charger isn't switched off (which will result in a "charging equipment not ready"...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

I download my Powerwall data from the Tesla API to a CSV file using this Powershell script and then reference the external CSV file from Excel (the Data > From Text/CSV command) and analyse/slice and dice it using PivotTables. The Tesla API has historical data at 5 minute intervals so nice and...

    Car didn't charge again!

If you have an iPhone then use Do Not Disturb instead (Use Do Not Disturb with Focus on your iPhone or iPad). You can allow certain people/apps to get through to you during these times rather than being completely incommunicado. I expect Android phones would have something similar.

To stop the Powerwall discharging you set the Backup Reserve to the current level - e.g if battery is currently 56%, setting Backup Reserve to 56% effectively stops discharge.

There is Time-based Control, where you specify the import/export prices and start/end times of peak/off-peak and it will let the grid charge the car rather than discharging. The issue is it won't know about any extra slots outside of the 23:30-0530 window if you're using Intelligent, so will...

Do it the other way round: set the car to 100% (or something above the desired amount) and the Octopus app to the desired amount. I think they may have changed their logic recently (it was buggy a month or so ago for me and OK now so I assume they've been making backend changes).

Thanks for the suggestions: home location is a good one, but that is all fine. The only thing that it might be is earlier in the week I had the charging amps in the Tesla app set lower in the daytime to soak up some excess solar and inadvertently left it set low (10 amps) overnight for the IO...

Both set to 90% (If it helps, I'm a software developer with 30 years of experience, have Teslamate running in a Docker container, a UniFi setup, Home Assistant and all that jazz I might have missed something but I did try to get the basics checked off before posting here 😉) Tonight I'll turn...

Yes, a decent connection to a UniFi access point. Last night similar thing happened. TeslaMate shows it “Charging” then stops at 01:40, stays “Online” for 18 minutes then goes to sleep.

Had issues last night, trying to work out if it's IO turning the car charging off, or the car itself playing up. Started charging at 22:30 (nice, extra slot or two) but it turned off at 00:56, where it should have gone all the way through to 08:30 according to slots reported in the Octopus app...

    Cruise Control Randomly not working

Don't know if anyone else has noticed this pattern. I get DI_a175 "Cruise control unavailable" before (i.e. during pre-heating) or after a supercharger session (i.e. after the car has heated up the battery) - so my current theory is it's related to the car/autopilot computer overheating. Anyone...

Solar Panels UK - is it worth it?

Regarding east/west vs south facing in winter: we had our installation done a few months ago (end of November '22) and here's the generation numbers. As you can see east/west panels only doing a quarter of the south facing ones so far. Looking forward to their contribution later in the year...
