Gen 1 HPWC with newer Model Xs?

No, it was getting about 10 kw with 48 a, the max amperage newer X can get. Same as the 16 kw rated gen 2 chargers

Gen 1 HPWC with newer Model Xs?

The plot thickens... Today I completed my visit to all destination chargers in Reno-Sparks area that do not have restricted access. Gen 2 at whatever power still work. Gen 1 with lower rated power on the Tesla map still work. But I encountered just one Gen 1 charger rated 16 kw and it worked...

Gen 1 HPWC with newer Model Xs?

That is my theory. However I didn't really check the DIP switches (didn't know how to check yesterday). I relied on the information on Tesla's map, where you can tap a destination charger and it shows "up to x kw". All the gen 1 16 kw (there was a gen 2 16 kw I could use) are not usable but gen...

Gen 1 HPWC with newer Model Xs?

I’m doing a bit more research on this on my own time actually. Reno has around two dozens of destination chargers and I visited about half of them today. Most are gen 1. But if the gen 1 are set to a lower max power (lower than 16 kw), in other words, not using the max amperage gen 1 could use...

How can I tell what generation my wall connector is?

Also can tell from the parts number. Gen 1 ends with A, B, C, or D. Gen 2 ends with E

Gen 1 HPWC with newer Model Xs?

Can report that 2020 Model X still has this incompatibility issue. Wasn't aware of this before finding myself at my planned hotel with destination chargers during a road trip with no other charging options within range and could not charge. Lowering amp in car, rebooting the car, resetting the...

Charging equipment fault on the Tesla destination charger

I had the same issue when doing a road trip with my 2020 X when I planned the route with destination chargers in mind. Lowering amp in car, rebooting the car, resetting the charger, resetting the breakers of the chargers, didn't make a difference. The car ended up being towed back to the service...

Series 1 HPWC issues with 2018 model S

Sadly, I totally agree with you. Personally I am just going to assume destination chargers don't exist in the future.

Series 1 HPWC issues with 2018 model S

I planned a road trip with a mix of destination charger and superchargers with my 2020 Model X. I never heard of this compatibility issue before. I got to my first destination to spend the night while charging but the car won't charge. The next morning a 3, then an older version of X and early...

List of Android phones that work >99% of the time

I'm using Google Pixel and it works 90% of the time. It was working 100% the time before the recent Tesla mobile app update. Then stopped working entirely until I re-paired it. Then worked maybe 50% of the time but has been steadily picking up.

Poll: Model 3 Phone Key Failure Rate

Funny, that update actually broke my phone key. I had to remove and re-add it after the update to use it at all. Then it works about 70% of the time compared before the update (on android, google pixel)

Poll: Model 3 Phone Key Failure Rate

For unknown reasons, my phone key (android) works 100% of the time for about three weeks now. It used to fail 70% of the time.

Removing the front plate holder and remounting it?

I'm going to have my model 3 wrapped soon but already mounted the front plate holder, the one that comes with the car and has three stripes of sticky tapes. Anybody has experience of removing it? Just tear it down? Will not damage the paint right? And to mount it back up, buy another three...

    Phone as Key Issues

So far the most consistent approach for me is to turn off phone's Bluetooth when the walk away lock happened. And when approaching the car (but still not in the distance to trigger walk up unlock) turn Bluetooth on. After a few seconds it will show phone key connected and do its job. Required...
