Tesla Service - still a complete joke?

My experience with Tesla service, both mobile and at two different centers, has been excellent. My car has had few issues (Less than my prior BMWs) so I don’t (fortunately!) have more than a few experiences in two years/37k miles. In every case they were on time, did what they were supposed...

    Tesla App down (again?)

Same here. The app (iOS) put up an error saying my car was no longer in my account. But I can log on to the web site. Undoubtedly a temporary glitch.

Wall-mountable Tire Rack for Winter Tire Swap

Tire Rack has a good one. As 640k says; use a good stud finder and good lag bolts. https://www.tirerack.com/accessories/detail.jsp?ID=164 Mine is mounted fairly high (my garage has a 10' ceiling) and it's as high up as I could mount it. That means that I haul tires up up/down a ladder. It...

    I am not an Electrician

I am not an electrician (but I've had more than one tell me I do better work than most of those that are...) The gooey stuff is nothing to worry about. Assuming that the insulation is intact (hot wire can cause some insulation to get soft and gooey), it's probably either no-ox or even just...

MASTER THREAD: Jack Points — location, use, damage, pads, etc.

There are instructions somewhere on this forum but you can make adapters out of a hockey puck and rubber bumper. I think it cost me $10 or $15 for enough material to make eight of them. The hockey puck sits on your jack stand. The rubber bumper has to be sized to fit the hole on the underside...

How was your model 3 quality when you took delivery?

I spent an hour with a flashlight looking for paint problems and misalignment. Took the car to be detailed the next day (ceramic) and asked them to look it over with a find tooth comb. We found some tape that should have been removed but wasn’t, the frunk needed a 30 second adjustment to have...

    Tesla Remote App

IMHO, No. I do like 'Stats' quite a bit.

    Supercharger - Rockaway NJ

This SC is about a mile from my Mother in Law's house, so would be quite handy for us when visiting. As of today, no change (no transformer). Very nice site though.

    Recharging..

The car doesn’t try to maintain exactly 90% but will resume charging after some amount of loss; it’s better for the battery that way. Not sure what that point is offhand. The numbers you cite are about 7% loss. Seems a bit much to me, but hardship to say.

    TireRack Winter Wheels and Tires

While obviously impossible to know, the damage was probably from UPS, so hard to blame TireRack for that. And while they did make a mistake on the re-ship, assuming they pay for the remounting/balancing at a local shop that is undoubtedly lots faster than having them re-ship more tire packages...

Read this if you're installing non-OEM (e.g. Winter) rims

Today was the day for me to install my winter (aka snow) tires. I ran into an issue that I hadn't seen discussed before so I thought I would post this if anyone else runs into this and perhaps save them some time (and anxiety!) During manufacture Tesla installs a small bolt (see the first...

Range Anxiety - You got nothing on me!

With a 65% efficiency I'm betting you are a) driving faster (maybe lots faster) than 65MPH, and b) are keeping yourself toasty in the cabin. My typical day has me driving 30 -> 50 miles and I watch my power consumption pretty closely. When I drive aggressively, with the heat on, I can easily...

    Two months in ...

While I know there are lots of folks with issues such as yours, my experience is quite different. I picked up my car late September in Dedham MA. Me and about 160 other people that day. With about 20 people waiting to pick up their cars while I was there all but one had, literally, no show...

Musk: $35,000 Model 3 would cost $38,000 to make right now.

While Elon’s tweet about the $38k number was a little vague, to me it sounded like it would have to sell for $38k, not a $38k manufacturing cost. If so, thstwould require an 8% cut in cost, which is certainly doable.

Is walk away lock via iPhone reliable for you?

iPhone X and works 99% of the time (3 months ownership). The only times I've had problems is some strange condition where I move far enough away for the car to decide to lock but then immediately go back and try to unlock. It then either takes a couple of attempts to open the door handle...
