Strange. I very rarely have to switch wifi back on. Interested in what other folks have to offer. (double check that 'remain connected in drive' is still selected for your hotspot and your home wifi)

In the name of science I timed the time it takes for it to connect when I left work today after the car was parked and charging for ~5 hours. 75 seconds from the time I sat in the car until it connected! IDK. I generally don't have my car charging at home. (Free charging at work) My Y is connected to wifi at home. When I get in the car in the morning, it's connected to the home wifi. I'm sure it sleeps overnight? Is the hotspot starting on your phone when it connects to the cars bluetooth...

Huh, could be. I'll also note that when I leave my house in the morning, I will manually change from my home wifi to my hotspots - which is running because of the automation, because I have poor LTE signal quality when I leave my house for the first kilometre or so which will sometimes confuse...

You're welcome. Like I said, it works pretty well for me if I let it connect before I put the car in Drive. And sometimes it will require inputting the password for the hotspot again (could be an iPhone security feature?). I keep meaning to change my hotspot password to something I'll remember...

Thanks. Can you tell I work QA and customer support for a software company? IIRC if you simply enable the hotspot when the phone connects to the cars bluetooth, it will prompt you on the phone if you want to connect to this device. Doing it through Focus and enabling the automatic connect rule...

No times are set for these automations. On your iPhone: First, go to Settings -> Focus -> Driving, scroll down and Under TURN ON AUTOMATICALLY enable Activate when connect to Car Bluetooth. This will set you the Focus on your phone to Driving when it connects to your Tesla via BT. Then in...

It's certainly part of the issue. The hotspots on the phone won't start automatically, for security reasons I suppose. But using these two automations will allow it all to happen automagically. It's not perfect, sometimes the car has trouble connecting, and for some reason will lose the password...

I forgot to mention I have a couple of automations setup in Shortcuts on my phone as well. 1. Set Focus to Driving when phone connects to car bluetooth. 2. When Focus is set to Driving, enable the phone hotspot.

It will connect. I find I have to give it ~1 minute to connect before I put the car in Drive. You just need some patience. If I jump in the car and put it in drive it will turn off wi-fi in the car if there is no connection. I use an iPhone 13 for my hotspots connection.

Do you have any outstanding software updates? What year is your vehicle? When did you get it?

I'm guessing you can't simply get Tuxmats from Costco in the US?
