    12V Access: Model S 2021 Refresh

I took delivery on 30 June. Manufacture date is 06/21. I would be really surprised if they all didn’t have the connector - my first thought is that it’s buried behind the other wire bundles somewhere. Although, I’ve seen stranger so you never know and by no means would I ever claim to be an expert.

It’s down at the bottom of the area behind the carpet in front of the left footrest. Remove the small cover/panel in the first picture - pull from the top. Then lift the carpet and door sill up and in to expose the area where the connector is. Hopefully the pictures help. Good luck and let me...

12v switched power for Radar Detector

I’m a big fan of the MirrorTap and Blendmount. I used a Blendmount to install the radar detector under the mirror and in other cars I’ve used the mirror tap for the 12v power but In the case of my Model S I wasn’t comfortable digging around the mirror and the cameras looking for power. I’ve...

12v switched power for Radar Detector

For me it’s about a clean install where I can run wires out of sight. My radar detector sits right below my rear view mirror (Blendmount) so I run the power wire along the headliner, down the post to the driver’s side footwell. Getting to the 12v in the center console isn’t all that easy if you...

12v switched power for Radar Detector

Recommend checking out this thread. I believe the Model Y has the same connector in the driver’s footwell and should be a great place to pull a switched 12v. This is where I’m getting the power for my radar detector. https://teslamotorsclub.com/tmc/posts/5938313/ Hope this helps. Brian

The Tesla trailer brake ECU adapter (1072586-00-A) definitely fits this connector. Attached picture is the ECU adapter plugged into the connector in the footwell. I’m seeing 12V switched power from the red wire. Black is chassis ground.

I noticed was that the power switched off when the car went to sleep but if I set the alarm with sentry on then there was power on pin 1. Not saying that’s the absolute final answer - just what I think I was seeing in my limited testing.

Based on your edited picture. Top Left - Ground, Black wire Bottom Left - 12V, Red wire If, and BIG IF, it’s the trailer ECU connector then the other two on the right side are trailer related (Brake switch and trailer brake). That being said, I picked up a Model X trailer brake ECU adapter...

I tested the OBD port and best I can tell its not switched - seemed to be always hot. Pin 16.

It may very well be for ambient lighting but it did not turn off during my drive from Las Vegas to Los Angeles today. There are 4 pins in the connector so one very well may be an on/off signal. The good news I found switched power for the radar detector. Appreciate everyones help.

It’s behind the vertical carpet by the footrest. Hopefully the pictures help. It would be sweet if someone can ID the connector so we can just plug into it. In the first picture I’m pointing to the first piece of trim I removed. Then just kind of lifted the door sill and carpet up to move them...
