[uk] UltraSonic Sensors removal/TV replacement performance

This decision makes me cringe so bad. I can't wait for the parking sensors to join autowipers, autolights and TACC on the list of things that are worse than on my 2015 Golf. If this decision was really made in good faith why wouldn't they wait until they had developed the software before...

Phantom braking getting some unwanted attention (at last!)

Oh yeah I'm well aware it affects radar cars, I have one. But it's got much worse and there have been a surge in complaints in the US where they recently switched to vision only: https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2022/02/02/tesla-phantom-braking/ So tesla are clearly trying to do more...

Phantom braking getting some unwanted attention (at last!)

Isn't this linked to switching to vision only in the US. I'd be worried if my car didn't even have radar. Until Tesla give up on trying to do everything with vision it's not going to get fixed. This problem essentially doesn't exist with the TACC on my 2015 Golf that is only using radar. It's...

Comparison of M3 RWD and M3LR AWD?

Yes I think those are the main differences. The RWD is very good value IMO and has its own major pro of the LFP battery so you can charge to 100% of the time which is really nice, no faffing with charge limits and you have your full range every morning. It's also more efficient than the LR (I...

    Fog lights turning off automatically

My car turned off all of my lights while driving in fog, how is that not a problem?

    Wing mirror heaters

Not being able to turn on the wing mirror heaters without the rear window heat was a problem for me today doing a long drive in temperatures that kept fogging up the mirrors. Does it not use a lot more power or is it not really significant? And is it ok for the heated rear glass to be left on...

    Fog lights turning off automatically

Yeah I feel like normally the running lights at least were always on all the time which is why I didn't expect it to turn them off/didn't really think I'd need to turn off auto. Maybe a software change or something to do with the conditions today.

    Fog lights turning off automatically

Yeah I will obviously use the lights on manual now. I think it's just bad software decision to not change the lights to manual when you turn on the fog lights. In my Golf I pull out the light switch to put on fog lights but just leave it on auto, I presume this is essentially turning off the...

    Fog lights turning off automatically

Very foggy this morning so I turned on the fog lights under controls, 20 minutes later down the motorway in patchy fog I realized all my lights had turned off including the fog light. I assume the "auto" lights were turning off in a brighter areas and therefore turning off the fog light...

    Tesla buying money guilt :-(

Ah my bad I have a RWD I put AWD by accident in that last post, I shall edit it

    Tesla buying money guilt :-(

I totally get it, my Tesla was my first new car so I had much the same situation in convincing myself it was justified as a replacement for my second-hand car. And to be fair if the sound quality is very important to you I don't think the sound system is as good as it should be on a £40k car in...

    Tesla buying money guilt :-(

Maybe controversially I would offer the opinion that if you're losing sleep over this then just get the RWD - especially if you don't really need the range - it is a very big expense and the RWD is undoubtedly better value for money if you want to justify it to yourself. Paying £7k extra solely...

    Model 3 SR+ Q3 2021 Battery Capacity

You do have a 60kWh battery. 270ish is the EPA (US) range and that is what the car uses. The ranges on the UK website are the WLTP standard which gives higher (and much less realistic) numbers for range. In practice, the actual miles you get will be even less than 270 which I assume you've...

    Upgrading from a 2019 M3 SR+ to 2021/22 model

Yes the new cars are made in China. I don't know about the trade-in prices so won't comment on that but some key things with the new SR+ (or "Model 3" as it is now called) is that it comes with LFP batteries so you can charge it to 100% all the time, no need to charge it only to 80-90% day to...

    model 3 efficiency?

I'm well impressed with the range on my Q4 2021 SR+. Done 1000 miles since picking it up and getting avg 240Wh/mi and with the new 60kWh battery around 230-240 miles of range although it's been quite mild temperatures this year. I normally drive 75-80 on the motorway. Was expecting to have a...
